The baseball cap is the reference shape in headwear: six panels meeting at a top button, two stiffened front panels, a pre curved peak and an adjustable strap. Other caps are described by how they differ from it, so it is the style to price first when comparing units. A baseball cap manufacturer in Bangladesh cuts and sews it on dedicated cap lines, with buckram fused or sewn behind the front. Buyers are brands, sports clubs and corporate merchandise teams.
The desk looks for a headwear unit with its own peak stitching and cap embroidery set up, visits it, and takes in your profile, strap and artwork. Before bulk, a sew out of the logo on the real front panels is approved, and the signed cap becomes the reference at inspection.
Kinds of baseball cap
Cotton twill structured caps
Brushed or washed cotton twill, usually 200 to 300 GSM, with buckram in the front panels. Matt, holds a crisp front and takes embroidery well. Choose it for brand and club merchandise.
Performance polyester caps
Light polyester with laser cut vents or perforated side panels and a hook and loop or buckle back. Choose it for running, golf and outdoor sport; it takes sublimation and transfers as well as embroidery.
Stretch fit caps
A closed back with elastic built into the sweatband, sold in two or three size bands such as S/M and L/XL. Choose it for a clean back with no strap; it needs a size run.
Sandwich peak caps
A contrast layer between the top and underside of the peak, showing as a thin line along the edge. Choose it for a club or brand colour accent at small extra cost.
Brief for a baseball cap manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Profile and crown height
- Low, mid or high profile with the front crown height in centimetres; mid profile usually stands roughly 8.5 to 9.5 cm. A photograph does not carry this number.
- Buckram
- Fused or sewn buckram behind the two front panels, and its stiffness. Too soft and the front caves; too hard and the cap sits off the head.
- Peak
- Pre curved, usually 6.5 to 7.5 cm long, with six to eight stitching rows, and a plastic insert rather than board so the peak survives washing.
- Back closure
- Metal buckle with tuck strap, hook and loop, or plastic snap; buckle finish; and the head range covered, usually about 55 to 60 cm.
- Embroidery
- Flat or 3D puff, stitch count, thread colours and position. A logo across the centre seam needs digitising that allows for the seam.
- Inside finish
- Taped crown seams, sweatband material and width, eyelets sewn or metal, and any printed tape or label inside.
Tests and certificates for baseball caps
- ISO 105-E04
- Perspiration fastness for the sweatband and crown, which take sweat on every wear; a dark cap that fails here bleeds onto the forehead.
- OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100
- A certificate for the cap article covers thread, buckram, sweatband and peak insert as well as the crown fabric. Useful when the cap or its packaging carries the label.
- US CPSIA
- Youth caps for children 12 and under are children's products: lead at most 100 ppm in accessible parts such as buckles and 90 ppm in coatings, third party testing, a certificate and a tracking label.
What moves the price of a baseball cap
- Stitch count: embroidery is usually priced by the thousand stitches, and 3D puff adds foam and slower running.
- Back closure: an antique brass buckle with a leather strap costs more than hook and loop or a plastic snap.
- Fabric: brushed twill, performance polyester and wool blends differ per metre, and each cuts with its own yield.
- Peak build: a sandwich layer, extra stitching rows or a printed underside add operations.
- Decoration positions: a side or back logo means another hooping on each cap.
Lead time for baseball caps
A baseball cap sample usually takes 10 to 14 days, and bulk usually 35 to 50 days after the PP sample. The logo sew out is the step to settle first, since bulk embroidery cannot start without it. Custom metal buckles, printed seam tape and fabric dyed to match add days, and a revised sew out adds another round. The unit commits to dates in its quote.
What we check on baseball caps before shipment
- Crown height and peakFront crown height and peak length are measured on sampled caps, and the peak curve compared with the approved cap.
- Front panel stiffnessEach front is pressed in by hand and released to confirm buckram is present and springs back without a crease.
- Logo across the centre seamEmbroidery is checked for registration where it crosses the seam, against the approved sew out, with no gaps or pucker.
- Strap through its rangeBuckles, hook and loop or snaps are closed at both ends of the range on every sampled cap.
Questions buyers ask about baseball caps
Which back closure should a baseball cap have?
Choose on look and use. A metal buckle on a tuck strap reads as retail, costs the most and adjusts smoothly. Hook and loop adjusts quickly in small steps and suits sport and uniform caps, but it wears, picks up lint and catches hair. A plastic snap costs the least and sets the size in fixed steps. Name the buckle finish if you choose metal.
How many stitches does a cap front logo need?
It depends on size and fill. A front logo usually runs about 5,000 to 12,000 stitches, and dense fills or 3D puff take more. The unit can count your artwork; give the stitch count if your digitised file has one, because embroidery is priced on it.
Can one order mix strap types?
Usually, within agreed quantities, but each closure is a separate trim order and line set up. Many buyers pick one closure per style so trims are bought in one lot. List the split on the enquiry and the reply will say what the unit accepts.
Do I need a youth size?
Only if you sell to children. A youth cap is a smaller block with a lower crown and shorter peak, usually for about 52 to 55 cm heads, not an adult cap with a shorter strap. In the US it also brings the children's product rules above.
