A hoodie is judged on the weight of the fleece, the shape of the hood and whether the drawcord still looks right after a wash. All three are decisions you make in the spec, not things you discover in the shipment. This page covers what we source, the fabrics the bench runs, and what to send us for a quote in 48 hours.

We are a sourcing desk in Dhaka. We do not own a factory. We put your enquiry to two fleece and knit plants from our bench, send you both quotes with our read on the fit, and our own person is on the floor for the inline and the final inspection.

Hoodie and sweatshirt types we source

Pullover Hoodie

The standard. Brushed back fleece, 280 to 340 GSM, kangaroo pocket, two panel or three panel hood, rib cuff and hem. Flat drawcord with metal or plastic tipping, or no cord at all for childrenswear.

Zip Up Hoodie

Full length zip, split kangaroo or side seam pockets, and a zip guard behind the teeth so the chin never touches metal. The zip is the part that fails, so name the brand and gauge in your spec or let us quote two options.

Oversized Hoodie

Boxy body, dropped shoulder, heavier fleece at 340 to 400 GSM so the silhouette holds. Give us the body width, the body length and the sleeve length you want, because oversized is a block and not a size on a chart.

Crew Neck Sweatshirt

No hood, rib collar, usually the same fleece as the pullover. Cheaper to make and quicker to ship, and the item to start with if you are testing a new factory.

Fleece Hoodie

Heavier brushed or sherpa backed fleece for cold weather, 350 GSM and up. Watch the shrinkage. A heavy cotton rich fleece can lose two to three percent in length, so the factory should be cutting to a shrunk pattern and telling you so.

French Terry Hoodie

Looped back rather than brushed, 240 to 300 GSM, lighter and cooler. The right pick for a spring range or a warm market, and it takes print better than a brushed face.

Printed Hoodie

Screen print, discharge, puff or heat transfer on any body above. On brushed fleece the face flattens under the platen, so ask for a print strike off on the real fabric before bulk.

Embroidered Hoodie

Chest or sleeve embroidery with a backing to stop the stitch pulling through the loft. Give us the stitch count if you have it, because embroidery is priced per thousand stitches and a detailed crest is not a small extra.

Fabric and construction

Fleece is described by weight, fibre blend and back. A 280 GSM cotton rich brushed back and a 280 GSM polyester rich looped back are different garments at a similar price. Cotton rich feels better and shrinks more. Polyester rich holds colour and shape and pills less. Most volume hoodies land between 60 and 80 percent cotton for that reason.

The hood is worth a sentence in your spec. A two panel hood is cheaper and stands less well. A three panel hood with a centre gusset sits properly when it is down, which is how a hood spends most of its life. Lined hoods, jersey binding at the face edge and a rib inner are all small costs that change how the garment reads on a shelf.

Rib at the cuff and hem should be a proper 2x2 rib with elastane, not a self fabric band. Without the elastane the cuff bags out inside a month and the garment looks old.

Sizing and grading

Send your size chart with the chest, the body length from the high point of the shoulder, the sleeve length, the cuff and hem depth, and the hood height and width. Tell us the tolerance you accept. We measure the pre production sample in the smallest, the sample and the largest size and send you the numbers before bulk cutting, because a hood that grows with the chest looks wrong on the largest size and nobody checks it until the goods land.

Quality control

Inline inspection while the line runs, so a pocket set at the wrong height is caught on the first bundle. Final inspection to AQL 2.5 unless your standard says otherwise, with a photo report before the goods move. On a hoodie we check shrinkage on a washed cut sample, the drawcord eyelet finish, zip function through the full length on every garment in the sample, and shade continuity between dye lots.

Compliance differs by plant. The factories on our bench hold different combinations of BSCI, Sedex, WRAP, OEKO-TEX and GRS. Tell us what your buyer requires and we will only quote plants that already hold it, and we attach the certificate to the quote.
