Cap Manufacturer in Bangladesh

A cap is a small garment with a disproportionate amount of engineering in it: the panel count decides the shape, the buckram decides whether the front stays up, and the embroidery decides whether anyone buys it. It is also the item most often ordered from a photograph, which is why so many cap orders arrive looking nothing like the reference. This page covers the headwear we would source, what to specify, and where our bench stands.

We are a sourcing desk in Dhaka. We do not own a factory, and on this category we will be straight with you: headwear is a category we are building the bench for. Bangladesh makes caps, we do not yet have a headwear unit vetted and on our list. Read the note below, and read the rest anyway, because the specification does not change with the factory.

Cap and headwear types we source

Baseball Cap

Six panel structured crown, pre curved peak, buckram in the front panels, adjustable strap at the back. The default and the one to price first.

Five Panel Cap

A single front panel with no centre seam, which gives a clean field for a large embroidery or a woven patch. Slightly different block from a six panel, so it is a separate pattern.

Dad Cap

Unstructured, soft front, low profile, curved peak. No buckram, so it sits down on the head. Cheaper to make and a completely different look, and buyers often ask for one while sending a photograph of the other.

Trucker Cap

Structured foam front with a mesh back, flat or curved peak, snapback closure. The mesh gauge is worth specifying because it changes the look more than the colour does.

Snapback Cap

Flat peak, structured crown, plastic snap closure. The peak underside colour is a design decision that most specs leave blank.

Bucket Hat

No peak, a full brim all round, usually four panels and a brim in two or three layers. Brim width and stiffness belong in the spec.

Visor

Peak and a headband with no crown. Simple, cheap, and sized by head circumference with the closure taking up the range.

Beanie Hat

Knitted rather than cut and sewn, single or double layer, with or without a turned cuff. A different unit again from a cut and sew cap, so say if you want both in one order.

Construction, and the four things that change the shape

Panel count. Five or six panels, occasionally four. It changes the crown seams, the embroidery field and the block. Say the number.

Structure. Buckram in the front panels makes the cap stand up. No buckram makes it a dad cap. Foam makes it a trucker. This single choice is the difference between two products and it is the one most often omitted.

Profile and crown height. Low, mid or high profile, measured in centimetres at the front. A photograph does not carry this number and a factory will default to whatever its block is.

Peak. Flat or pre curved, and the curve radius if curved. Peak length, peak stitching rows and the underside colour all belong in the spec.

Closures: plastic snap, metal buckle with a tuck strap, velcro, or an elasticated fitted back. Each has a different price and a different size range, and a fitted cap needs a real size curve where an adjustable one does not.

Decoration, where a cap order is won or lost

Most caps are bought for the logo, so the decoration is the product.

Embroidery is flat or 3D puff. 3D puff needs a foam under the stitch and a design drawn for it: a fine logo does not survive being puffed. Give us the stitch count if you have it, because embroidery is priced per thousand stitches.

Woven or leather patch, applied by stitch or by rivet. Cleaner for a detailed logo than embroidery and often cheaper at volume.

Screen print and sublimation work on the peak and on a polyester panel, not on a heavy cotton twill front.

Ask for a sew out before bulk: a single embroidered front panel on the real fabric with the real backing. Approving artwork on a screen and then seeing it stitched is how logos come out wrong, and a sew out costs almost nothing.

Sizing

Adjustable caps still have a size: the crown circumference and the adjustment range. Fitted caps need a full size curve in centimetres or in the inch sizing your market uses. Send the head circumference range you sell to and say whether you want a youth size, because a youth cap is a different block and not a small adult one.

Where our bench stands

We have knit, woven, sweater, denim and outerwear plants on the bench. We do not have a headwear unit. Caps are cut and sewn on their own machines with their own buckram and their own embroidery setup, so none of the plants we hold is an answer to a cap enquiry.

What we will do: find the headwear units that run your construction, visit them, take your specification and your artwork in, and come back inside five working days with a quote from a unit we have stood inside, or a straight no. We will not take a cap order we cannot inspect on the floor.

If caps are a small part of a larger apparel order, say so. The apparel we can quote today from the bench, and we will be clear about which line of your enquiry is which rather than quoting the lot and sorting it out later.

What to send with your enquiry

• Style, panel count and whether the front is structured, unstructured or foam
• Profile and crown height in centimetres, and the peak shape
• Fabric by weight and construction, or a swatch
• Closure type
• Artwork as vector, with Pantone references, and the decoration method
• Stitch count if you have it, and confirmation you want a sew out
• Size range, and whether you need youth sizes
• Quantity per colour, your target price and your ship date

Quality control, which we do regardless of whose unit it is

Inline inspection while the line runs. Final inspection to AQL 2.5 unless your standard differs, with the photo report before the goods move. On caps we check crown height and peak length against the spec, buckram presence and stiffness in the front panels, embroidery registration and density against the approved sew out, closure function on every sampled cap, sweatband stitching, and shade continuity between panels cut from different rolls, which on a six panel cap is visible from across a room.
