Bed Sheet Manufacturer in Bangladesh

Bed linen is bought on feel and reordered on how it survives a hundred washes. The number on the packaging is thread count, the number that actually decides the feel is the yarn, and most buyers argue about the wrong one. This page covers the bed linen we would source, what to specify, and where our bench actually stands on it.

We are a sourcing desk in Dhaka. We do not own a factory, and we will not pretend about this one: bed linen is a category we are building the bench for. Bangladesh has the home textile mills, we do not yet have one vetted and on our list. Read the note below, and read the rest of the page anyway, because the specification is the same whoever ends up weaving it.

Bed linen types we source

Flat Sheet

A hemmed rectangle, sized by bed and by tuck allowance. The simplest item on the page and the one to price first, because it sets the cloth cost for everything else.

Fitted Sheet

Elasticated corners, sized by mattress depth as well as bed width. Mattress depth is the measurement buyers forget, and a fitted sheet cut for a 25 centimetre mattress will not go on a 35 centimetre one.

Duvet Cover

Two panels with a closure, button, zip or envelope. Say which closure and how many buttons, because the closure is most of the making cost.

Pillowcase

Housewife, Oxford with a flat border, or bag style. The border width is a design decision and a cost line.

Bed Linen Set

Flat or fitted sheet, duvet cover and pillowcases, quoted and packed together. Agree the set contents and the pack ratio early: it drives the polybag, the insert card and the carton.

Quilt Cover

Heavier than a duvet cover, often quilted or with a printed panel. Ask whether the quilting is stitched or ultrasonic, because they wear differently.

Hotel Bed Linen

Plain white, heavier cloth, built for an industrial laundry at 70 degrees and chlorine. A different product from retail linen with the same name, and the tests that matter are different.

Kids Bed Linen

Printed cotton, lighter weight, with the childrenswear dye and finish certification that the market requires for the age band.

Thread count is not the whole story

Thread count is threads per square inch. It is a real number and it is routinely inflated by counting each ply of a multi ply yarn separately, so a "1000 thread count" sheet is often a 250 count woven with four ply yarn and it feels worse than a good 300.

Ask for three things instead and you will get what you want:

• Yarn count, which is the fineness of the yarn. A 40s or 60s single yarn gives a smooth, light cloth. A coarse yarn does not, at any thread count.
• Single or multi ply. Single ply at a genuine 300 to 400 count is the sweet spot for retail.
• Construction. Percale is a plain weave, crisp and cool. Sateen is a warp faced weave, smoother and warmer looking. They are different products, not different qualities.

Combed cotton over carded. Long staple cotton if the range sells on feel. Ask for the fibre origin only if you intend to make a claim about it on the packaging, because that claim needs a certificate.

Shrinkage and sizing, which is where complaints come from

Bed linen shrinks, and a flat sheet that shrinks 6 percent stops fitting the bed. The specification has to state:

• The finished size after washing, not the cut size
• The shrinkage percentage the pattern is cut to
• The tuck allowance on a flat sheet
• The mattress depth on a fitted sheet, plus the elastic type and length

Ask for a washed sample measured against the chart. On this product a washed sample is the only sample that means anything.

Finishing and the claims on the packet

Mercerised, calendered, easy care resin, peached: each changes the hand and each has a trade off. A resin easy care finish reduces creasing and reduces tear strength. A peached finish feels soft in the shop and can pill. Say what you want the customer to feel and let the mill propose the finish, then test it.

If the packaging will carry a certification claim, the certificate has to exist before the print is approved. OEKO-TEX Standard 100 is the common one on bed linen, GOTS if the range is organic cotton, and both are chain of custody rather than a single test.

Where our bench stands

This is the honest part, and it is the reason this page reads differently from the rest of the site. We have a terry towel mill on the bench and it is a good one. We do not have a bed linen mill, and towel and bed linen are different machines, different yarns and different finishing lines, so the towel mill is not an answer to a sheet enquiry.

What we will do with a bed linen enquiry: find the mills that run your construction, visit them, take your specification in, and come back inside five working days with a quote from a unit we have stood inside, or a straight no. If we cannot get you a price we will say so rather than stalling.

If you already have a mill here and want us to manage the specification, the inline and final inspection and the shipping, that we can do from the first day, and it is often the more useful half of the job anyway.

What to send with your enquiry

• Item list with the finished size after washing for each
• Yarn count, ply, construction (percale or sateen) and thread count
• Mattress depth and elastic spec for fitted sheets
• Closure type and button count for duvet covers
• Print or embroidery artwork, or the shade reference per colour
• Set contents and pack ratio, and the packaging artwork
• Any certification the packaging will claim
• Quantity per colour and size, your target price and your ship date

Quality control, which we do regardless of whose mill it is

Inline inspection while the line runs. Final inspection to AQL 2.5 unless your standard differs, with the photo report before the goods move. On bed linen we check finished size on a washed sample against the chart, shrinkage after the stated cycle, seam and hem stitch density, elastic recovery on fitted sheets, colour fastness to washing and to rubbing, and shade continuity between dye lots and between the pieces of a set, because a duvet cover and its pillowcases arriving in two shades is the complaint that gets a set returned.
