A hipster panty has a low rise, a straight or gently curved leg line and a waistband wider than a bikini's, usually 2 to 3.5 cm. It reads as an everyday style and sells in core colour packs and logo band ranges from basics and lingerie brands. A hipster panty manufacturer in Bangladesh usually cuts it in cotton elastane or modal jersey, and its fit depends more on the waistband elastic than on the body fabric.
On a hipster the waistband is the product, so Garments Hub BD sends both factories the elastic width, type and recovery you need, together with the hip grade. At inspection, relaxed and stretched waist measurements are checked on every size, not only the sample size. A logo band is quoted with the elastic mill's time included.
Kinds of hipster panty
Exposed logo band hipster
A jacquard or printed elastic band sewn on the outside, showing your logo. The band width and logo repeat are set at the elastic mill, so the artwork comes first.
Fold over self fabric band
The body fabric folded into a band with elastic inside, so only fabric shows. Softer and quieter under clothes; the band width depends on the fold.
Covered elastic hipster
A plain covered elastic, plush inside, turned and stitched at the waist. The value version, common in multipacks.
Lace band hipster
A wide stretch lace band at the waist on a jersey body, the bridge between an everyday hipster and a lace range.
How to brief a hipster panty manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Waistband width and type
- Width, usually 20 to 35 mm on a hipster, and exposed, fold over, covered or lace. Wider bands spread the pressure and roll less.
- Elastic recovery
- The stretch you expect and the recovery after stretching and washing. The elastane in the elastic decides it, so ask the elastic supplier for its stretch data.
- Hip measurement and grade
- Hip at the widest point and the grade between sizes, often 4 to 5 cm. The hipster sits on the hip, so this is the controlling measurement, not the waist.
- Rise and side height
- Front rise, back rise and side seam height. A hipster keeps a taller side than a bikini; give it in cm so the two styles stay distinct.
- Waist relaxed and stretched
- Both values per size, with a tolerance, because a band that measures right relaxed can still be short when stretched.
- Body fabric
- Cotton elastane, modal elastane or microfibre, with weight and elastane share, chosen to stretch with the band.
Tests and labels for hipster panties
- ISO 5077 with ISO 6330
- Dimensional change after washing. On a hipster test the waistband area as well as the body, since a band that shrinks moves the style down a size.
- ISO 105-C06
- Washing fastness with staining, graded 1 to 5. A dark logo band must not bleed onto a light body; test band and body as one piece.
- Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011
- Lists the fibre names allowed on EU labels, so the stretch fibre is written as elastane. US labels usually call the same fibre spandex; set both texts before care labels are printed.
What moves the price of a hipster panty
- Waistband elastic: a wide jacquard logo band costs much more than a plain covered elastic.
- Elastic minimums per colour at the elastic mill when the band is dyed to match each body.
- Fold over bands, which use more body fabric and add a folding operation.
- Body fabric: modal elastane costs more than cotton elastane of the same weight.
- Size span, since more sizes mean more band lengths to cut and check.
Lead time for hipster panties
Hipsters sample in 7 to 14 days and run to bulk typically 30 to 60 days after PP approval. A custom jacquard band, or elastic dyed to match each body colour, adds days because the elastic mill weaves or dyes it before cutting. Plain covered elastic in stock colours keeps the hipster at the short end. The quote confirms the dates.
What we check on hipster panties before shipment
- Waist relaxed and stretchedMeasured on every size against the spec, because the band decides the fit more than the body does.
- Band joinThe waistband joint is flat, secured and placed where specified, with no bulk at centre back.
- Band to body colourDyed to match bands checked against the body under the agreed light, colour by colour.
- Hip widthHip measured per size against the grade, so the steps between sizes stay even across the range.
Questions buyers ask about hipster panties
How wide should a hipster waistband be?
Usually 20 to 35 mm. Narrow bands keep the look close to a bikini; wider bands roll less and carry a logo better. Choose the width with the elastic in hand, because two bands of the same width can stretch very differently.
Why grade a hipster on the hip rather than the waist?
Because the hipster sits on the hip, so the hip measurement decides whether each size fits. The waist grade follows from the band stretch. Typical hip grades run 4 to 5 cm between sizes; check yours against the size chart of your market.
Can the logo elastic be dyed to match every body colour?
Yes, but each colour is a dye lot at the elastic mill with its own minimum length. Many brands use one or two band colours, such as black and white, across all bodies to keep elastic minimums low on a first order.
What recovery should waistband elastic hold after washing?
Agree it with the elastic supplier as stretch and recovery figures measured before and after a set number of washes, and put both on the tech pack. There is no single number for every band, so ask for data on the exact elastic you will use.
