Leather crossbody bags, your specification
Made to your tech pack, fabric and colours by a factory matched to the order.
Private label
Your main label, care label, hangtag and polybag. Nominated trims accepted.
A crossbody bag is a small body on a long adjustable strap worn across the chest. With so little leather in it, the plated hardware and the painted edges are what a shopper sees and touches, and they carry most of the cost. Buyers are women's fashion labels and accessory brands that change colours often. A leather crossbody bag manufacturer in Bangladesh is judged on finish.
Garments Hub BD has no crossbody unit vetted yet. For your enquiry the desk finds leather goods units that paint edges in several coats and work with plating suppliers, visits them, and replies within 5 working days with a real quote or a straight no. Market test reports you ask for on the quote form are planned into the timeline.
Kinds of leather crossbody bag
Camera bag
A boxy body with a zip top and a front slip pocket on a wide strap. Square corners and a clean zip line show how well it was made.
Phone crossbody
Just big enough for a phone and cards, sometimes with card slots on the back. A low cost piece that sells across many colours in one season.
Saddle bag
A curved D shaped flap over a curved body. The curve needs accurate pattern work, and edge paint that follows round corners without pooling or thinning.
Chain strap crossbody
A chain, or a chain threaded with leather, in place of the strap. The weight and plating of the chain become a large share of the cost.
How to specify a leather crossbody bag
- Strap length
- Longest and shortest length in millimetres, usually reaching about 1100 to 1300 mm, detachable by clasps or fixed to D rings.
- Plating
- Base metal, zinc alloy or brass, the plating colour, and a clear lacquer or e-coat over it. Approve a plated hardware sample, not a colour card.
- Edge paint
- Tone on tone or contrast, gloss or matte, and the number of coats, usually three to five, sanded between coats.
- Hardware list
- Every clasp, ring, logo plate and zip pull, each in the same finish, so the lot does not mix colours.
- Body size and fit
- Inside dimensions in millimetres, and the largest phone it must take with its case on.
- Leather surface
- Smooth, pebbled, or embossed with a pattern. Embossing hides small marks and lets more of each hide be used.
Tests and chemical rules for leather crossbody bags
- REACH Annex XVII, entry 27
- A chain strap across a bare neck or shoulder can count as a metal part in direct and prolonged skin contact, where nickel release is capped at 0.5 micrograms per square centimetre per week. Ask for a test.
- ZDHC MRSL
- Edge paints and leather finishes on a crossbody are applied in facilities this restricted substances list covers, so ask the unit for its chemical inventory against it.
- REACH Annex XVII, entry 47
- The crossbody strap and back panel touch skin, so EU orders carry a report showing chromium VI under 3 mg/kg in the leather.
Price drivers when a leather crossbody bag manufacturer in Bangladesh quotes
- Plating finish and lacquer, the part a shopper notices first on a small bag.
- Edge paint coats, each one applied, dried and sanded by hand.
- Chain weight, link size and plating on chain strap styles, bought by length from a hardware supplier.
- Custom logo hardware, such as a cast plate or clasp, which needs a mould and a sample before bulk.
- The number of colours per style, since each colour needs its own matched edge paint.
Lead time for leather crossbody bags
Crossbody samples usually take 14 to 21 days, with bulk at 45 to 75 days after the PP sample is signed. Plated hardware samples need approval before the plating run, and custom cast logo parts add a mould stage. Matching edge paint to each leather colour can add a day or two per colour. The quote fixes the dates.
What we check on leather crossbody bags before shipment
- Edge paint after flexingEdges bent by hand along strap and body; the paint must not crack, lift or show a different colour.
- PlatingClasps and rings checked for pits, peeling and colour difference within the lot and against the approved sample.
- Clasp gates and strap rangeEach lobster clasp springs shut, and the strap is measured at both ends of its range.
- Phone fitThe largest phone named in the specification, in a case, goes in and the closure shuts without strain.
Questions buyers ask about leather crossbody bags
Why does plating matter so much on a crossbody bag?
Because the hardware sits in plain view and in the hand, and a small bag has little else to look at. Poor plating spots or wears through to the base metal within months, more so after humid transit. Approve a plated sample, and ask for a salt spray test on the finish.
How many coats of edge paint should a crossbody have?
Usually three to five coats, each dried and sanded before the next. Fewer coats leave a rough edge that cracks when the strap flexes. Ask to see a cut edge on the sample and bend it before approval. A matte paint forgives small dips that a high gloss shows.
Can the strap be swapped for a wide woven strap?
Yes, and many ranges sell a second strap. Woven straps are usually 38 to 50 mm wide and clip to the same D rings, so the rings and clasps must be sized for both straps from the start. The two straps can then be sold together or apart.
Can each crossbody colour have its own edge paint?
Yes, and it should. Edge paint is mixed to match each leather colour or chosen as a deliberate contrast. Matching takes a little time per colour, so name every colour at the enquiry rather than adding them later. Contrast paint needs very neat edge work, because every flaw shows.
