A slide is a sandal with one band across the foot and nothing at the heel. With a single upper piece and no fastening, it is simpler to make and quicker to sample than other sandals, so many brands use a leather slide sandal manufacturer in Bangladesh to try out a footwear unit before committing a wider range. Comfort comes from the footbed; durability comes from how the band is anchored.
No sandal unit is vetted by Garments Hub BD yet. For a slide, the desk finds units already making banded sandals on your sole type, asks how they anchor the band, pulls a finished band by hand, visits the unit that meets your specification, and returns a real quote or a straight no within 5 working days.
Kinds of leather slide sandal
Flat leather sole slide
A leather band on a layered leather sole with a leather insole. Clean and traditional, it is slippery in the wet and suited to dry markets or indoor and resort wear.
Moulded footbed slide
A contoured footbed with arch support and a heel cup, usually cork and latex or moulded PU, covered in leather or suede. More comfort and more cost, with a mould for each size.
EVA sole slide
A light EVA sole with a leather band, for pool, beach and casual wear. Cheap to mould and soft underfoot, but EVA compresses over time and holds a band anchor less firmly.
Padded band slide
A band lined and padded on the underside, sometimes folded or knotted. Softer on the instep, with more cutting and stitching than a single layer band.
Rubber sole slide
A leather covered footbed and band on a treaded rubber outsole. Heavier and grippy, it suits city summer wear and wet pavements, and the rubber holds a stitched anchor well.
How to specify a leather slide sandal
- Band
- Width, shape and leather, lined or single layer, and the edge finish: painted, burnished or folded. An unlined band is usually 1.8 to 2.4 mm.
- Band anchoring
- Wrapped under the insole and stitched, riveted through a backing plate, or moulded in. Name the method and the pull force you want tested.
- Footbed
- Flat leather, cushioned, or moulded with arch support and a heel cup, plus the covering leather or suede and any embossed logo.
- Sole
- Leather, rubber, EVA or PU, with thickness, tread and colour. On a slide the sole is most of the look as well as most of the wear.
- Fit
- With no heel strap, the band position and toe room set the fit. Give the size system, the run and pairs per size.
Tests and certificates for leather slide sandals
- Band pull test
- The band is pulled from the sole at each anchor with an agreed force and any movement recorded. It is a cheap test that says a great deal about a sandal unit's work.
- Colour transfer from the footbed
- A damp, sweat-like solution is rubbed on the footbed leather to see whether dye moves. Bare, damp feet make this a real risk on slides.
- REACH Annex XVII, entry 47
- Both the footbed cover and the band of a slide touch bare feet for hours, so for the EU each leather should be shown to carry no more than 3 mg/kg of chromium VI.
- Sole abrasion
- Measures outsole wear against an abrasive surface. EVA and soft rubber wear fast on pavements, so ask for it on slides sold for street wear.
What moves the price at a leather slide sandal manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Footbed: a flat leather insole against a moulded, covered footbed that needs a mould per size.
- Sole material: EVA and TPR cost less than rubber, PU or stacked leather.
- Band build: single layer against lined and padded, and its width.
- Anchoring: stitched through or riveted with plates, against adhesive alone.
- Embossing, foil printing or a metal logo plate on the band.
Lead time for leather slide sandals
Slides are quick to sample: usually 14 to 21 days for a pair, and 45 to 70 days for bulk once the pre-production pair is approved. A new moulded footbed or sole needs its moulds made first and adds days, while a stock sole keeps the dates short. The band pull test runs on the approved sample before cutting. The quote confirms the timing.
What we check on leather slide sandals before shipment
- Band anchor pullA pair from the run is given up for testing and each band anchor is pulled to the agreed force.
- Band positionThe band sits the same distance from the toe on the left and right sandal and across sizes in the run.
- Footbed bondThe footbed cover is bonded flat to the sole, with no lifting at the toe or the heel edge.
- Edge finishBand and sole edges are painted or burnished evenly, with no raw fibres or cracked edge paint.
Questions buyers ask about leather slide sandals
Why is a slide a good first footwear order?
It has one upper piece, no fastening and no closed toe, so the sample is quick, the unit's work is easy to judge and the minimum is lower than on a shoe. If the band anchors and footbed hold up, the same unit can be tried on a more complex sandal.
How should the band of a slide be attached?
Wrapped under the insole and stitched, or riveted through a plate, holds far better than adhesive alone. Adhesive in a slot is cheap and pulls out. Ask the unit to show its method on a cut sample and to pull test the band before bulk.
Cork footbed or EVA?
A cork and latex footbed moulds to the foot over time and suits a comfort range, but it is heavier and costs more. EVA is lighter and cheaper but compresses with wear. Choose by the price you will sell at and where the slide will be worn.
Should the band be graded by size?
Yes. The band is graded so that it holds the foot at the same point on every size. Ask the unit to show graded band patterns rather than one band length stretched across the whole run, and check the fit on the smallest and largest sizes.
