Pullover hoodies, your specification

The pullover hoodie is the standard sweat: brushed back fleece, usually 280 to 340 GSM, a hood with a drawcord, a kangaroo pocket and rib at the cuffs and hem. It is the block that the zip, oversized and heavyweight versions change. Casual and streetwear labels, universities, merchandise suppliers and children's brands order it in volume. A pullover hoodie manufacturer in Bangladesh is judged on the hood, the cord and the rib, the parts that show wear first.

Garments Hub BD can quote a pullover two ways: OEM from your own tech pack, or ODM from a factory's existing pullover block with your changes, which can save a pattern round. Both factories' answers sit on one sheet with the fleece blend and weight each one proposes.

Kinds of pullover hoodie

Two panel hood pullover

The hood is two side pieces joined by a seam over the crown. Choose it for promotional, school and entry price hoodies; it uses less fabric and sewing, though it sits flatter and points slightly at the top.

Three panel hood pullover

A centre strip runs between the two side pieces, giving the hood depth, so it frames the face when up and lies neatly on the back when down. Choose it when the hood is part of the look.

Jersey lined hood pullover

The hood is lined in single jersey, often a contrast colour, hiding the seams and the fleece back. Choose it for retail ranges; it adds a lining piece and a few operations.

Cordless children's pullover

No drawcord and no eyelets, with a neat bound or rib edge to the hood instead. Choose it for children's sizes, school and nursery wear, and any range sold into the EU for young children.

How to specify a pullover hoodie

Fleece
Weight, usually 280 to 340 GSM, fibre blend such as 80/20 or 60/40 cotton polyester, and brushed or unbrushed back.
Hood
Two or three panel, lined or single, with hood height and width for each size, graded less than the chest so large sizes do not look swollen.
Drawcord and eyelets
Flat or round cord; metal, plastic or heat sealed tips; metal eyelets or stitched buttonholes. Leave both off young children's sizes.
Kangaroo pocket
Pocket width, depth and height above the hem, the finish at the pocket mouth, and bar tacks at the upper corners where hands pull.
Rib cuff and hem
2x2 rib with elastane, usually 3 to 5 percent, its finished depth, and whether the hem rib is deeper than the cuff.
Shoulder
Set in or raglan, and whether the shoulder seams are taped so the weight of the hood does not stretch them.

Tests to ask a pullover hoodie manufacturer in Bangladesh for

EN 14682
The EU standard for cords and drawstrings on children's clothing: no cords or drawstrings in the hood and neck area for young children, under 7 years, and restrictions on them in older children's sizes.
16 CFR 1610
The US flammability rule for clothing textiles treats brushed fleece as a raised surface fabric, so ask for the report on cotton rich fleece sold in the US.
ISO 12945-2
The fleece face rubs under bag straps and forearms, so ask for a pilling grade by modified Martindale on the bulk fleece, not the swatch.
CPSIA
On US children's pullovers, metal aglets, eyelets and prints are where lead testing falls, alongside a tracking label and a Children's Product Certificate.

What moves the price of a pullover hoodie

  • Fleece weight and blend: more cotton and more grams per square metre both raise the fabric cost.
  • Hood build: a three panel or lined hood adds pieces and sewing time over a two panel hood.
  • Cord and eyelets: metal tips and eyelets cost more than plastic tips and stitched holes.
  • Rib: elastane rib costs more than a self fabric band but keeps cuffs and hem in shape.
  • Shoulder taping and bar tacks: small operations that add minutes to every piece.

Lead time for pullover hoodies

A pullover hoodie usually samples in 7 to 14 days when the fleece is in stock, and fleece knitted and dyed to order adds days ahead of that. Pullover bulk runs 30 to 60 days from the written PP approval. Children's sizes sold into the EU or US can bring a lab test into the timeline, and an ODM block often needs fewer fit corrections than a new pattern. The quote confirms the dates.

What we check on pullover hoodies before shipment

  • Hood symmetryThe hood is measured for height and width, with both sides matching and the centre seam or panel running straight.
  • Eyelet backingEyelets are checked for a reinforcing patch behind them and for no torn fleece around the ring once the cord is pulled.
  • Pocket levelThe kangaroo pocket is measured from the hem on both sides, and its upper corners are checked for bar tacks.
  • Rib recoveryCuffs and hem rib are stretched and released to check they spring back, with the rib seams lying straight.

Questions buyers ask about pullover hoodies

Two panel or three panel hood?

Two panel costs less and suits promotional and basic hoodies. Three panel sits better on the head and lies flatter when down, so retail and streetwear labels usually choose it. Either can be lined, and the choice belongs in the first sample.

Do children's hoodies need the drawcord removed?

For young children's sizes sold in the EU, yes: EN 14682 allows no cords or drawstrings in the hood and neck area under 7 years, and restricts them in older children's sizes. Many brands simply drop the cord across all children's sizes to keep one rule, and leave the eyelets off too, so no holes are punched for a cord that is not there.

What fleece weight suits an all season pullover?

Around 300 GSM brushed back covers most markets. Go towards 280 GSM for warm climates and layering, and above 340 GSM for the denser feel some streetwear buyers want, which the heavyweight hoodie page covers. Whatever the weight, state it with a tolerance so the bulk fleece can be checked against it.

Cotton rich or polyester rich fleece for a pullover?

Cotton rich fleece feels softer and breathes, but shrinks more and can pill. Polyester rich fleece holds its colour and shape and costs less, but feels less natural. Blends such as 80/20 or 60/40 sit between the two, which is why most pullovers use one.
