A school blazer is the uniform item a school changes least. The same colour, badge and cut are reordered every year, and this year's blazers are worn in the same corridor as last year's. Buyers working with a school blazer manufacturer in Bangladesh are usually uniform suppliers running a fixed programme for one or many schools, where shade and size repeat count for more than any new detail.
Garments Hub BD sends the blazer spec to two bench factories that sew tailored uniform programmes, and the two quotes come back on one sheet with cloth, lining and badge method stated. On a reorder, ask for the lab dip against your master shade, not the last bulk lot; inline inspection during sewing then checks the badge position against your drawing.
Kinds of school blazer
Poly viscose blazers
The volume school blazer: a poly viscose twill that holds a sharp press and survives a 40 °C wash. Chosen for primary and most secondary programmes, in every school colour.
Wool blend blazers
Wool with polyester for a softer handle and better shape over a year. Chosen by schools that sell on tradition and accept a gentle wash or dry clean label.
Braided and piped blazers
Flat braid or contrast piping on the lapel, cuffs and pocket edges in a second school colour, often for prefects, house captains or a senior year.
Girls' cut blazers
A girls' block with front darts, a shorter body and buttons on the opposite side to the boys' style, in the same cloth and badge as the boys' programme.
What a school blazer manufacturer in Bangladesh needs each year
- Cloth and master shade
- Blend, weight and the school's master shade standard: a physical swatch from an approved lot, kept by the buyer, which every lab dip on every reorder is matched to.
- Front and lapel
- Single breasted, two buttons, notch lapel, with lapel width and gorge height. Keep these fixed between years so old and new blazers look alike.
- Lining
- Full lining, or a half lining across the shoulders and sleeves, with its colour, plus any inside pocket and name tape panel.
- Badge
- Embroidered on the breast pocket by the factory, a woven badge sewn on, or the pocket left plain for the school to badge. Each choice changes the order of sewing.
- Buttons
- Plain or crested, plastic or metal, size in ligne, and whether cuff buttons are sewn on as decoration or work.
- Repeating size curve
- Last year's sales by chest size, so the factory can book cloth and plan pattern grades in the same ratios each year.
- Care label
- Washable at 40 °C or dry clean only, since the label decides which tests and finishes the blazer needs.
Tests and certificates for school blazers
- ISO 105-B02
- Light fastness of the school colour, graded 1 to 8 against the blue wool references. Bottle green, maroon and royal blue blazers fade at the shoulders over a year of sun, so ask for the grade.
- ISO 105-C06
- Colour fastness to washing for blazers labelled washable. Poly viscose is dyed with two dye classes, one per fibre, and a poor match between them shows as a shade shift after a hot wash.
- OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100
- Class III covers articles with little skin contact, jackets among them, and is the usual class for a blazer. Ask that shell, lining and interlining are all on the certificate, since the lining is the layer a pupil touches.
- US CPSIA
- Applies to blazers sized for age 12 and under: crested metal buttons are tested for lead, and each blazer needs a tracking label and a Children's Product Certificate. Senior sizes may fall outside it.
What moves the price of a school blazer
- Wool blend against poly viscose, and the wool share in the blend.
- Crested metal buttons against plain plastic ones.
- Badge method: pocket embroidery by stitch count, a sewn woven badge, or none.
- Braid or piping in a second colour, which adds a sewing operation for every edge.
- Full lining against a half lining across the shoulders and sleeves.
Lead time for school blazers
A school blazer usually takes 7 to 14 days to sample and 30 to 60 days in bulk after the pre-production sample is approved. A wool blend in a school colour is often dyed to order at the mill, which can add several weeks before cutting, so repeat programmes book cloth early. Badge embroidery and braiding each add a step. The quote confirms the dates for every school colour on the order.
What we check on school blazers before shipment
- Shade against the masterBulk blazers viewed beside the master swatch and a blazer from the previous order under the agreed light source.
- Badge positionBadge centred on the pocket at the drawn height, stitched flat, and in the same place on every size.
- Fixed lapel and gorgeLapel width and gorge height measured against the standing spec, so this year's blazers match last year's at a glance.
- Crested buttonsShanks secure, crest upright and facing the same way on every button down the front and on the cuffs.
Questions buyers ask about school blazers
How do I keep a school blazer the same colour from one year's order to the next?
Keep a master shade standard, a physical swatch from an approved lot, and send it with every reorder. Ask for lab dips against the master, not last year's bulk, and approve them under the light you sell in. Drift creeps in when each order is matched to the one before.
Should a school blazer be poly viscose or wool blend?
Poly viscose for most programmes: it washes, holds a press and costs less. Wool blend has a softer handle and recovers better from creasing, but usually needs a gentler wash or dry cleaning, which some parents will not do. Some schools sell wool blend for seniors and poly viscose for juniors.
Does every size of a US school blazer need CPSIA testing?
Only the blazer sizes made for children aged 12 and under. A range running from age 4 to 16 is partly in scope, so say which sizes are intended for pupils aged 12 and under. Those need lead testing on metal buttons and badge coatings, a tracking label and a Children's Product Certificate.
Can one blazer order cover several school colours?
Yes, each school colour as its own line with its own size curve. The minimum applies per colour, which suits a supplier serving several schools in one order. Badges, braid and buttons differ by school, so give each colour its own trim list.
