Sleepwear and pajamas, your specification
Made to your tech pack, fabric and colours by a factory matched to the order.
Private label
Your main label, care label, hangtag and polybag. Nominated trims accepted.
Sleepwear is worn for hours against the skin and washed more often than most clothing, so softness, shrinkage and the waistband matter more than styling. It comes from two kinds of plant: woven flannel and poplin sets from shirting plants, jersey and rib sets from knit plants. A sleepwear manufacturer in Bangladesh making children's sizes also works to flammability rules that adult nightwear meets in a different way.
Garments Hub BD puts the market and the size range on every enquiry, so plants quote children's pyjamas with the fabric or fit route already chosen. Tops and bottoms are priced as one set, and the pack, from a polybagged pair to a printed gift box, is quoted in the same line rather than added later.
Kinds of sleepwear
Woven pyjama sets
Flannel for winter and poplin or lawn for summer, with a notch collar or round neck, piped edges and an elastic or drawcord waist. Made on shirting lines that sew collars and buttonholes every day.
Knit pyjama and lounge sets
Jersey, interlock or 1x1 rib, usually 160 to 220 GSM, with cuffed or straight legs. Softer and quicker to sew than woven sets, but shrinkage and spirality need watching.
Nightdresses and nightshirts
Long or knee length bodies in jersey, viscose or poplin, from strap styles to button front nightshirts. A single garment, so it is the simplest sleepwear to grade and pack.
Robes and dressing gowns
Terry, waffle, fleece or satin finish polyester, with a shawl collar, patch pockets and a tie belt held by loops. The belt and its loops are the parts that fail first.
Children's pyjamas
Snug fitting knit sets, or looser sets in fabric that passes the flame test, from toddler sizes up, often sold as twin packs. The route is fixed before the first sample.
Matching family sets
One print cut into adult, children's and baby sizes and sold together for gifting seasons. The print is run once for every size, so the shade matches across the family.
What to send a sleepwear manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Cloth by season
- Flannel, poplin, jersey, rib or viscose jersey, with the weight. For flannel, say whether it is brushed on one face or both, as the hand differs clearly.
- Waistband
- Covered elastic, exposed brushed elastic or elastic with a drawcord, and the relaxed and stretched waist per size. A tight waist is a frequent cause of returns.
- Market and age range
- Countries of sale and the size range. For US children's sizes this decides between flame resistant fabric and a snug fitting cut before any cloth is bought.
- Cords on children's styles
- Drawcords, ties and robe belts on children's sizes, drawn on the sketch with their lengths and fixing points, so they can be checked against the market's limits.
- Set make up and pack
- Which pieces form the set, whether top and bottom sizes may differ, and the pack: polybag, hanger, folded with a band or a printed gift box.
- Labels on every piece
- Care, fibre and size on each piece of the set, plus any flammability label or hangtag the market requires.
Flammability and safety rules for sleepwear
- 16 CFR 1615 and 16 CFR 1616
- US children's sleepwear, sizes 0 to 6X and 7 to 14. Loose sets must pass the flame test; infant sizes of nine months or smaller and snug fitting sets within the rules' measurements sit outside them.
- 16 CFR 1610
- The US flammability rule for clothing textiles, which covers adult pyjamas and robes and the infant and snug fitting children's sets outside the sleepwear rules. Brushed flannel and raised surfaces burn faster than smooth cloth, so test them.
- EN 14682
- Cords and drawstrings on children's clothing sold in the EU. Children's pyjama bottoms usually run on elastic alone, and robe belts are checked for length and fixing.
- OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100
- Sleepwear sits on skin all night. For children's sets, ask for the product class that fits the age, with elastic, thread and prints covered as well as the cloth.
- Nightwear (Safety) Regulations 1985
- UK: children's nightdresses, dressing gowns and bathrobes must meet BS 5722; children's pyjamas, babies' garments, cotton terry bathrobes and adult nightwear carry a label saying whether they meet it: KEEP AWAY FROM FIRE in red if not.
What moves the price of sleepwear
- Cloth: brushed flannel and viscose jersey cost more than plain poplin or cotton jersey.
- Piping, collars and button fronts on woven sets, each a separate operation.
- Flame resistant fabric or a flammability test for US children's sizes.
- Set make up: a three piece set with a robe costs far more than a two piece set.
- Packing: printed gift boxes, hangers and bands cost more than a polybag.
Lead time for sleepwear and pajamas
Flannel is woven and brushed to order more often than poplin, so woven sets usually wait longer for cloth than knit sets. A flammability test on children's fabric, asked for on the quote form, adds laboratory days, and a printed gift box has its own artwork approval and making time. Matching family sets wait for one print run to cover every size. The quote dates each part.
What we check on sleepwear and pajamas before shipment
- Waist stretchWaistbands are measured relaxed and fully stretched on each size, and covered elastic checked for twisting inside its casing.
- Set pairingTops and bottoms in each pack are checked for matching size, print and shade, since the two pieces may come off different lays.
- Brushed surfaceFlannel and brushed jersey are checked for bald patches, uneven nap and loose fibre that would shed in the first wash.
- Snug fit setsSnug fitting children's sets are measured against the rule's dimensions and checked for the required hangtag and label.
Questions buyers ask about sleepwear and pajamas
Do children's pyjamas sold in the US have to be flame resistant?
Loose fitting ones do, in sizes 0 to 14, under 16 CFR 1615 and 1616. Infant sizes of nine months or smaller are outside the rules, and so is a snug fitting cut within the rules' measurements, which then carries the hangtag and the permanent label the rules word. Choose the route before the first sample, as it changes fabric and pattern.
Is a two piece pyjama set counted as one piece or two?
Usually as one set when top and bottom are sold together in one fabric and colour, but factories count differently when the pieces use different cloths. The quote states how your set is counted. Separates sold apart count as two styles.
Does adult nightwear need a flammability label?
In the US, adult nightwear meets the general clothing rule, 16 CFR 1610, not the children's sleepwear rules. In the UK, adult nightwear must carry a label under the Nightwear (Safety) Regulations 1985: KEEP AWAY FROM FIRE in red, or LOW FLAMMABILITY TO BS 5722 in black where it passes. Name the UK on the quote form so the label is planned in. Brushed flannel deserves a test either way.
Flannel or jersey for a winter pyjama set?
Flannel for a classic set with collar and buttons; the brushing feels warm and the shape stays crisp. Brushed jersey or interlock for a softer, stretchier set with no buttons, which suits children. A range with both is two quote lines, one per plant.
