A women's range usually crosses more constructions than a men's one: denim dresses from a plant with a laundry, viscose blouses from a light woven plant, leggings and panties from elastane knit units, and trench coats from an outerwear plant. Finding a women's wear manufacturer in Bangladesh for the range really means finding four or five, each fitted to the same body and the same size chart.
Garments Hub BD sends each part of the range to two plants on its bench that run it, with one fit form size, one measurement chart and one grade rule. Products without a page of their own, such as jersey dresses or jumpsuits, are quoted the same way when the bench runs the construction; when it does not, you hear that at the quote.
Women's wear groups and where each is made
Dresses
Denim dresses come from denim plants with a laundry, woven viscose and crepe dresses from light woven plants, and jersey dresses from knit plants. Choose the plant by the cloth, not the silhouette.
Blouses and tops
Woven shell tops, shirt blouses and camisoles in viscose, crepe and poplin, plus jersey tops. They need a block with bust darts, not a men's shirt pattern, and have a page of their own.
Bottoms
Leggings from elastane knit plants; trousers, skirts and jeans from woven and denim plants. All are graded from the hip, the measurement that decides fit on the lower body.
Intimates
Panties and briefs from specialised underwear units that run lace, narrow elastics and small parts. A separate plant type, with its own trims and its own minimum per colour.
Coats and jackets
Trench coats and lined jackets from outerwear plants used to gabardine, fusing and linings. Their sampling takes more rounds than the rest of the range, so start them first.
How to specify a women's range for fit
- Fit form size
- Name the size the fit sample is made in and the dress form it is fitted on, for example UK 10, US 6 or EU 38, with the form's bust, waist and hip.
- Size system
- UK, US or EU numbered sizes, or alpha XS to XL. Fix one master system per range and convert the others from it.
- Grade on hip for bottoms
- Trousers, skirts and leggings grade from the hip, usually 5 cm per size in the middle sizes, and the waist follows. A chart graded from the waist mis-sizes curvier bodies.
- Bust and darts for tops
- Tops grade from the bust, with dart position and depth moving per size. Say whether larger sizes take a deeper dart or a separate block.
- Extended sizes
- Sizes above about UK 18 or US 14 usually need their own block and fit model, because grading a standard block upwards misplaces the bust, rise and armhole.
- Closures and linings
- Invisible zips, hook and bar, lining fabric and lining length. Women's fronts usually button right over left, with the buttons on the left side.
Tests a women's wear manufacturer in Bangladesh should report
- EU REACH Annex XVII
- Entry 27 limits nickel release from metal parts in prolonged skin contact: jeans buttons, bra hooks, strap sliders and dress zips. Ask for nickel release results on each metal trim.
- OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100
- Worth asking for on panties, leggings and anything worn against the skin, with a certificate that covers lace and elastics as well as the main fabric.
- ISO 105-X12
- Colour fastness to rubbing. A dark denim dress can mark a light handbag or sofa, so ask for dry and wet rubbing grades on every indigo style.
What moves the price of a women's range
- Lined dresses and coats cost more in fabric and sewing than unlined ones.
- Viscose and crepe slip on the cutting table, so lays are lower and cutting is slower.
- Extended sizes need their own block and use more fabric per piece.
- Lace, narrow elastics and small metal parts drive the price of intimates.
- Denim washes on dresses and skirts are priced per garment on top of the sewing.
Lead time for women's wear
Women's ranges often need two fit rounds before the PP sample, one on the form and one on a fit model. Each round sits in the 7 to 14 day sample window, and bulk typically follows 30 to 60 days after the PP sample is signed. Denim wash approval, lace sourcing and lined coats add days to their own groups. The quote states the dates group by group.
What we check on women's wear before shipment
- Fit on the stated formSample size garments put on the named form to check balance, side seams hanging straight and darts pointing at the bust.
- Hip and bust in three sizesHip on bottoms and bust on tops measured in the smallest, sample and largest sizes against the grade.
- Invisible zips and closuresZips run without catching, stay hidden, and meet level at the waist seam or neckline.
- Lace and elastic edgesOn intimates, lace scallops matched at side seams and elastic edges even, with no exposed stitching against the skin.
Questions buyers ask about women's wear
Which size should the fit sample be made in?
The size your range sells most, often a UK 10 or 12, US 6 or 8, or EU 38 or 40, on a form with those measurements. Grading out from the middle keeps errors small at both ends. Send the form's bust, waist and hip so every plant fits to the same body.
Does every plant in a women's range need its own fit sample?
Yes, each plant fits the garments it makes, but all of them fit to the same body. One form size, one measurement chart and one grade rule go out with the enquiry, so a dress from the denim plant and a blouse from the woven plant sit on the same form. Coats usually need an extra round.
Can extended sizes be graded from my standard block?
Only up to a point. Beyond about UK 18 or US 14, bodies change shape as well as size: the bust sits lower, the hip widens and the upper arm needs more room. A separate block fitted on a model in that range fits better than a stretched grade.
Is a jersey dress or a jumpsuit quoted without its own category page?
Yes, when the bench runs the construction. Send the tech pack or a sample and it goes to plants that already cut that cloth. If a product needs a construction the bench does not run, the quote says so plainly rather than offering a guess.
