A brief panty is the full coverage style: a higher rise to the natural waist, a full seat and covered elastic at waist and leg. Buyers are value retailers, multipack programmes and brands extending into larger sizes, where the brief carries much of the volume. A brief panty manufacturer in Bangladesh cuts it in cotton or modal jersey, and grading is simpler than on other cuts because the fuller shape absorbs small errors.
Brief ranges are often bought deep and wide, many sizes in many packs, so Garments Hub BD sets out the size curve with both factories before they quote: which sizes share a marker, where the grade steps up and whether the largest sizes need their own pattern. At inspection the largest and smallest sizes are measured, not only the sample size.
Kinds of brief panty
Cotton full brief
Cotton elastane jersey with covered elastic, the everyday staple in white, black and skin tones. Often sold in packs of three to seven.
Modal brief
Modal elastane jersey, softer and smoother than cotton, with a drape many customers like in larger sizes. Costs more than cotton and needs a gentler wash on the label.
Midi brief
A rise between the bikini and the full brief, cut on the brief block with the waist lowered. It lets a range offer two rises from one pattern family.
Extended size brief
Sizes beyond XL, often to 3XL or 4XL and above, with larger grade steps and sometimes a wider gusset. Grading here needs its own fit check.
What a brief panty manufacturer in Bangladesh needs from you
- Size curve
- Every size with its measurements and the quantity per size. Extended sizes often grade in larger steps than core sizes; mark where the step changes.
- Covered elastic
- Waist and leg elastic type and width, usually 15 to 25 mm at the waist and 8 to 12 mm at the leg. Covered elastic keeps the bare core off the skin.
- Fabric choice
- Cotton elastane or modal elastane, typically 160 to 200 GSM, and the elastane share. Value ranges often drop the weight, so state the floor.
- Gusset
- Single or double layer cotton gusset, its size scaled with the size curve.
- Multipack spec
- Pack count, colour assortment and the size of each pack. Value packs usually hold one size and several colours.
- Value targets
- If the target is a price point, say so. A factory can propose a lighter fabric or a single gusset, but every change must show on the quote.
Tests and labels for brief panties
- AATCC 150
- The US garment method for dimensional change after home laundering. Run it on the finished brief, since covered elastic and body fabric can shrink by different amounts.
- ISO 12945-1
- Pilling measured with the pilling box. Cotton and modal briefs sold in value packs are washed often, so set a minimum grade for the body fabric.
- FTC Care Labeling Rule (16 CFR 423)
- US apparel needs a permanent care label, sewn in or printed. In a multipack the label belongs on every brief, not only on the pack, since the pack is thrown away and the brief goes on being washed.
What moves the price of a brief panty
- Fabric: modal elastane costs more than cotton elastane, and weight adds cost directly.
- Size curve, since the largest sizes use far more fabric than the smallest for the same price.
- Covered elastic against exposed elastic at waist and leg.
- Pack count and pack form, from a polybag of three to a printed box of seven.
- Gusset, single or double layer.
Lead time for brief panties
Brief panties sample in 7 to 14 days, and bulk typically runs 30 to 60 days after PP approval. A wide size curve adds a fit check on the largest size before grading is signed, and deep multipack orders take longer to pack. Cotton in stock shades keeps the time short; modal dyed to order adds days. The quote confirms each date.
What we check on brief panties before shipment
- Both ends of the size curveSmallest and largest sizes measured against spec, because grading errors show first at the ends.
- Covered elasticNo bare core showing where the elastic is joined or turned.
- Rise on extended sizesFront and back rise on the largest sizes scaled with the grade, not left at the core size.
- Multipack ratioPacks counted against the colour and size ratio before cartons are sealed.
Questions buyers ask about brief panties
How far can the size curve go on a brief?
As far as your market sells, often XS to 3XL and sometimes to 5XL. Above XL the grade steps usually grow, and the largest sizes may need their own fit sample. Quote extended sizes on the same enquiry, because their fabric use changes the average price.
Modal or cotton for a full brief?
Cotton elastane for value and everyday packs; modal elastane where softness and drape are the selling point. Modal costs more and needs a gentler wash on the care label. Both are usually built with a cotton gusset.
What makes a value brief cheaper without failing in the wash?
A lighter fabric within reason, a single gusset, exposed rather than covered elastic, and simple polybag packs. Keep the elastic quality: elastic that loses its recovery is what customers return. Ask for the value spec to be tested like the core one.
Should the largest sizes cost more?
Many buyers average one price across sizes, but the largest briefs can use much more fabric than the smallest. Ask for a price by size band, or one price weighted by your size ratio, so the quote matches what you will actually order.
