Kids T-shirts, your specification
Made to your tech pack, fabric and colours by a factory matched to the order.
Private label
Your main label, care label, hangtag and polybag. Nominated trims accepted.
A kids T-shirt is not an adult tee graded down. Small heads need a stretchier neck or a shoulder snap, prints sit on small panels, and every trim and coating falls under children's product rules in the US and the EU. Childrenswear labels, supermarkets and school suppliers buy them singly, in multipacks and in sets. A kids T-shirt manufacturer in Bangladesh plans the size run, from toddler to early teen, before the first sample.
Garments Hub BD asks for the age band and the market on the quote form, so the two factories quoting the tee build the neck, print and label to those rules, and any test report is dated into the timeline from the start. Factories are matched to the certificates you name, OEKO-TEX among them, and print strike offs come before the PP sample.
Kinds of kids T-shirt
Toddler tees with snap or envelope necks
Sizes for about 2 to 4 years, with overlapping envelope shoulders or a shoulder snap so the neck opens wide over the head. Softer, lighter jersey, with nickel free metal or plastic snaps.
Crew neck everyday tees
Ages 5 to 14 in single jersey with a rib neck, the basic of most kids ranges. The neck rib needs some stretch and recovery, or it bags after a season of being pulled on and off.
Graphic and character print tees
Placement prints with glitter, foil, puff or flock on the chest. Each ink and coating is a separate item for US lead testing, so the full print list belongs in the enquiry.
Multipack tees
Two to five tees under one barcode, plain or in coordinated prints. Every colour in the pack has to be finished together, and each colour counts on its own towards the minimum.
How to specify a kids T-shirt
- Size run by age or height
- Sizes as the market sells them, by age or by height in centimetres, with the quantity per size. Children's sizes step further apart than adult ones, so give every measurement per size.
- Neck opening
- The minimum stretched neck circumference per size, so it can be measured, plus envelope shoulders or a snap for the smallest sizes.
- Jersey and weight
- Combed cotton single jersey, usually 140 to 180 GSM, or organic cotton under GOTS. Carded yarn feels rougher on young skin, and parents notice.
- Trims
- Snaps, buttons, sequins and badges with their material. Metal snaps should be nickel free, and anything a child can grip is pull checked.
- Prints by size group
- Print method, inks and coatings, with a print width for each size group. A print sized for age 13 swamps a toddler tee.
- Labels and packs
- Printed neck labels or soft sewn ones, a permanent tracking label for US sales, and the multipack assortment per pack and per carton.
Rules and tests for a kids T-shirt manufacturer in Bangladesh
- US CPSIA
- For children's products, age 12 and under: total lead at most 100 ppm in any accessible part and 90 ppm in paint or surface coatings, a permanent tracking label, third party testing at a CPSC accepted laboratory and a Children's Product Certificate.
- OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100
- Four product classes, of which class I for baby articles up to 36 months is the strictest. Ask for class I on sizes up to age 3 and class II, for direct skin contact, on the rest, covering thread, prints and snaps.
- REACH Annex XVII, entry 27
- Metal snaps on a tee touch the skin all day, so for the EU their nickel release is held to 0.5 micrograms per square centimetre per week or less.
- EN 14682
- Covers cords and drawstrings on children's clothing sold in the EU. A tee with no cord stays clear of it; a tie, a drawstring hem or a cord trim brings the design within it.
What moves the price of a kids T-shirt
- Third party tests for US sales, charged by the laboratory per style, print and trim.
- Snaps or envelope shoulders on toddler sizes, which add parts and operations to a simple tee.
- A long size run: more markers, shorter lays and more measurements to check.
- Glitter, foil or puff prints, each a separate ink, screen and test item.
- Multipack cards, bands and pack barcodes, sorted by carton.
Lead time for kids T-shirts
A plain kids tee in stock jersey is a short sewing job, so the time goes elsewhere. US testing at a CPSC accepted laboratory runs on bulk snaps, prints and coatings before shipment, since dyed and undyed textiles are determined not to exceed the lead limit under 16 CFR 1500.91, and print strike offs for each size group come before the PP sample. Multipacks wait for their last colour. The laboratory dates sit inside the factory timeline on the quote.
What we check on kids T-shirts before shipment
- Neck stretch per sizeNecks stretched to the agreed circumference on the smallest sizes, and envelope shoulders checked to overlap evenly.
- Snap holdEach sampled snap tugged, twisted and opened several times to check it stays fixed and has no sharp edge.
- Print size by groupPrint width and position checked against the artwork for each size group, so a small tee never carries the large print.
- Tracking label and packUS tees checked for a legible permanent tracking label; multipacks opened to confirm colours, size and barcode agree.
Questions buyers ask about kids T-shirts
Can one kids T-shirt be sold in both the US and the EU?
Yes, with the trims and labels planned for both from the start. For the US: a permanent tracking label, a Children's Product Certificate and lead tests on snaps, prints and coatings. For the EU: nickel release within the limit on metal snaps and no cord that EN 14682 would govern. Fibre content follows the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act in the US and Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011 in the EU.
Which neck suits toddler sizes?
An envelope neck, where the shoulders overlap and open wide, or a snap on one shoulder. Both let the tee pass over a toddler's head without force. Older sizes usually manage with a crew neck in a rib that stretches and recovers; agree the size where the build changes.
Can one print run across sizes 2 to 14?
One artwork can, but rarely one print size. Most buyers set two or three print widths for small, middle and large size groups, each with its own screen and strike off. Put the width per size group in the artwork, so the print sits in proportion on every tee.
How are minimums counted on kids tees with several prints?
Per colour of tee, and most factories count each print as its own style. A plain colour across many sizes reaches a minimum more easily than five prints on one colour. Each factory states how it counts on the quote sheet, so a print heavy range can be planned before the artwork is final.
