Parkas, your specification
Made to your tech pack, fabric and colours by a factory matched to the order.
Private label
Your main label, care label, hangtag and polybag. Nominated trims accepted.
A parka is a hooded jacket cut to the thigh or longer, made for wind and wet as well as cold. The warmth comes from synthetic wadding, or from a fleece or quilted lining behind a tough shell, and the details do the rest: a storm flap over the zip, drawcords at waist and hem, and a hood that closes round the face. A parka manufacturer in Bangladesh earns the order on hood build and hardware, the parts a shopper handles first.
Garments Hub BD sends the hood, trim, hardware list and shell to two factories on its bench, so the quotes compare like for like, including whether the trim detaches. Hood shape is settled across the proto and fit samples, and drawcords on children's sizes are built to the cord rule of the market you name. Photographs from each stage of production are yours.
Kinds of parka
Synthetic insulated parka
Shell and lining with polyester wadding throughout, usually heavier in the body than in the sleeves. The cold weather parka: stays warm when damp and washes at home.
Lined cotton shell parka
A cotton or cotton nylon shell over a fleece, quilted or zip in lining. Lighter and cheaper than a fully wadded build, for drier climates and fashion ranges.
Fishtail parka
A longer back split into a tail with its own drawcord, from military styles. A mid weight shell, often with a zip in liner, and a strong casual look.
Waterproof parka
A coated or laminated shell with taped seams for rain. Only a parka built this way should be sold as waterproof; the rest are water repellent.
Children's parka
Scaled to children's sizes, with no cords in the hood or neck for children under seven and no free ends there for older ones, and toggles and snaps fixed to resist pulling. Graded across many more sizes than an adult style.
Details to give a parka manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Hood build
- Two or three panel hood, peak or wired brim, hood volume and face opening, and adjusters at the back or sides. A hood that carries a trim needs a zip line or tunnel for it.
- Trim
- Faux or real fur, pile length, width and colour, and whether it detaches by zip, snaps or buttons. A detachable trim needs a finished hood edge underneath.
- Storm flap and zip
- Flap width, closure by snaps or hook and loop, and a two way front zip so the parka opens at the hem when seated.
- Drawcords
- Waist and hem cords with cord locks, channel position and cord end finish. Name the market so children's sizes follow EN 14682.
- Insulation
- Wadding weight for body, sleeves and hood, typically 120 to 200 GSM in the body with a lighter weight in the sleeves.
- Shell
- Fibre, weave, weight and finish, water repellent or waterproof. For waterproof, give the hydrostatic head in millimetres and ask for taped seams.
Tests and rules for parkas
- ISO 811 or ISO 4920
- ISO 811 measures hydrostatic head, the water column a shell holds before leaking, for a waterproof claim. ISO 4920 is the spray test for a repellent shell. Test for the claim on the label.
- EN 14682
- The EU standard for cords on children's clothing up to age 14: no hood or neck cords for children under seven, no free ends there for older children, and limits at waist and hem. Build to it from the proto.
- Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011
- Fibre labelling in the EU. A parka with a real fur trim must also state that it contains non textile parts of animal origin, so name the trim material on the quote form.
What moves the price of a parka
- Trim: a faux fur ruff adds material, and a detachable one adds a zip or snaps and a finished hood edge.
- Hardware count: snaps, cord locks, eyelets, toggles and two way zips, each with a setting operation.
- A waterproof shell with taped seams, against a repellent shell sewn conventionally.
- Wadding weight, and whether the hood is wadded as well.
- Length and pockets: thigh length or longer with flapped bellows pockets uses more cloth and time.
Lead time for parkas
Proto and fit samples usually take 7 to 14 days, and a parka with a new hood often needs an extra round to settle hood shape and trim fit. Bulk parkas usually take 30 to 60 days after written PP approval. Faux fur dyed to match, nominated hardware and seam taping each add days. The quote gives dates for your build.
What we check on parkas before shipment
- Drawcord endsCord ends are finished and secured, cord locks grip, and on children's sizes the free cord lengths are measured against the market rule.
- Trim attachmentDetachable trims are removed and refitted on sampled pieces; zips or snaps align and the hood edge underneath is finished.
- Storm flap coverThe flap covers the zip from collar to hem, and its snaps line up with their sockets on every size.
- Hood symmetryThe hood is checked on a form for an even face opening, centred seams and adjusters that pull evenly.
Questions buyers ask about parkas
Should the fur trim on a parka be detachable?
Usually yes for retail, because the customer can take it off for washing and milder days. It costs a zip or snaps and a finished hood edge. A fixed trim is cheaper and cleaner, but the whole parka then needs a care label that suits the trim.
Can a parka be sold as waterproof?
Only with a coated or laminated shell, taped seams and an ISO 811 hydrostatic head result at the level you claim. A repellent finish sheds showers, which is a different claim, tested by the ISO 4920 spray test. Label the parka to match the test.
What changes for a children's parka?
Cords, first. EN 14682 bans hood and neck cords for children under seven, allows none with free ends for older children, and limits cord ends at waist and hem. US buyers also need CPSIA testing, with lead testing on metal snaps, prints and coatings. Plan both into the proto, not the PP sample.
Faux fur or real fur for the hood trim?
Faux fur is the common choice: easier to source, to dye to a matched colour and to label. Real fur adds a labelling line in the EU and is refused by some retailers. Approve faux fur pile length and colour on a trim sample before the PP sample.
