A beach towel is a large, bright towel that spends its life in sun, salt water and sand, then goes into the wash with everything else. Swimwear and resort brands, holiday retailers, hotels with pools and promotional buyers order them printed or with a woven design. A beach towel manufacturer in Bangladesh works mostly in cotton terry with a sheared velour face, usually 380 to 550 GSM, with microfibre as the light alternative.

Garments Hub BD sends your artwork with the face, size and fastness targets, so the factories quote print or jacquard on the same terms. Each stage, from the printed strike-off or the woven jacquard blanket to the packed cartons, is photographed, and the photographs are yours.

Kinds of beach towel

Printed velour beach towels

One side of the terry is sheared into a flat velour that holds fine print detail, with loops left on the back for absorbency. The usual base for photographic or many colour artwork.

Yarn dyed jacquard beach towels

The design is woven in from dyed yarns, so it shows on both sides and cannot wash off. The loom limits the number of colours per design, and stripes are the easy starting point.

Flat woven sand release towels

A thin flat or waffle weave in cotton, often with fringed ends, lets sand shake off, dries fast and packs small. It absorbs less than terry and suits beach clubs and travel ranges.

Microfibre beach towels

Split polyester and polyamide fibre, usually 200 to 350 GSM, printed edge to edge by sublimation. Light and quick drying, though some buyers dislike the feel and it sheds microfibres in the wash.

Round and oversized towels

Circular towels around 150 centimetres across, and rectangles up to about 100 by 180. Both need wide looms or careful cutting, and the round form wastes cloth at the corners.

How to brief a beach towel manufacturer in Bangladesh

Face and back
Say velour one side with loops on the back, loops on both sides, or a flat weave. Velour prints sharper; loops absorb more.
Print method
Reactive printing on cotton keeps the hand soft and survives washing; pigment printing costs less for a few colours but feels stiffer. State the screen count or ask for digital printing.
Jacquard colours
For a woven design, give the colour count and a dyed yarn standard per colour, and accept that hairline detail will not weave clearly.
Finished size
Standard ranges usually use 75 by 150 centimetres and oversized ranges 90 by 180 or 100 by 180; place the print for the size after shrinkage.
Ends
Choose hemmed ends, a dobby border or knotted fringe. Fringe is tied by hand and adds time and cost.
Fastness targets
Agree minimum grades for light, rubbing and washing before printing, and ask the laboratory for sea water and chlorinated water fastness by property for pool or sea use.

Tests for beach towels

ISO 105-B02
Colour fastness to light, graded 1 to 8 against blue wool references, a higher grade meaning less fading. Beach towels lie in the sun for hours, so agree a light grade for bright prints before bulk.
ISO 105-X12
Colour fastness to rubbing, dry and wet. Dark prints on velour can rub onto skin and swimwear when wet, so the wet result matters more here than on most towels.
EU REACH Annex XVII, entry 43
Restricts azo dyes that release listed amines above 30 mg/kg in textiles in prolonged skin contact, towels among them. Ask for an azo test on each print colour of an EU order.
EN 12127
Mass per unit area from small samples, useful for microfibre towels whose weight is hard to judge by hand.

What moves the price of a beach towel

  • Print colours: each extra screen adds set up cost, felt most on short runs.
  • Velour shearing, an extra finishing step that also trims away some pile weight.
  • Jacquard design changes, since each new design needs loom programming and a woven blanket.
  • Size: an oversized or round towel uses far more yarn and cuts with more waste.
  • Fringe or carry straps, both added by hand after weaving.
  • Fibre: microfibre weighs less per piece, which can lower freight as well as material cost.

Lead time for beach towels

A printed beach towel sample usually takes 7 to 14 days, with screen engraving and a strike-off at the start; a new jacquard needs a woven blanket first and sits at the long end. Bulk beach towels usually follow 30 to 60 days after pre-production approval. Yarn dyeing for jacquard stripes and fringe tying both add days, and summer delivery slots fill early; the quote confirms the timings.

What we check on beach towels before shipment

  • Print registration and coveragePrints are checked for screens out of line and for undyed loop tips showing white through the colour.
  • Wet rub on dark shadesA damp white cloth is rubbed on dark areas to catch colour that would move onto swimwear.
  • Fringe and hem strengthFringe knots and hem corners are pulled, since a large wet towel hangs its weight from the ends.
  • Oversize measurementLarge towels are measured flat in both directions, as shrinkage on a 180 centimetre length is easy to miss by eye.

Questions buyers ask about beach towels

Velour or loop terry for a printed beach towel?

Velour for detailed artwork, since the sheared face holds a sharp print, and loop terry when absorbency matters more than detail. Most printed beach towels are velour on the face with loops on the back, which gives both. Simple stripes and blocks print acceptably on loops.

Does a beach towel need a light fastness test?

For a towel sold to lie in the sun, yes. Ask for ISO 105-B02 on each bright or dark print colour and agree the minimum grade on the 1 to 8 scale before bulk printing. Fluorescent shades fade sooner than ordinary ones, so test them first.

Is microfibre a good alternative to cotton for a beach towel?

For travel and sport ranges, often yes: it weighs less, packs small, dries fast and takes full colour sublimation prints. Some buyers find it feels less like a towel, and it sheds microfibres in washing. Cotton velour remains the default for retail and resort ranges.

Can a logo be woven into a jacquard beach towel?

Yes, if it is drawn for the loom: bold shapes, a few colours and no hairline detail. The design shows in reverse on the back, which matters for lettering. For many colour or photographic logos, a printed velour towel is the practical route.
