Denim shorts manufacturer in Bangladesh

A denim shorts manufacturer in Bangladesh is a jeans plant with a laundry behind it. The short is cut from a jean block, sewn, then washed, distressed and measured again, because the wash decides the length and the hem.

Denim shorts, your specification

Denim shorts are cut from jeans patterns and finished in the same laundries, which is why they cost more to make than their size suggests. Women's high rise cut offs, men's relaxed knee length shorts and kids pull-on pairs all start as a short jean and get their look from the wash. A denim shorts manufacturer in Bangladesh plans for the laundry from the first sample, since washing moves length, colour and fit.

Garments Hub BD sends the shorts to two denim plants on its bench with laundry access, together with a physical wash standard and the size chart in washed measurements. Both quotes price the same denim and the same recipe, and the wash is approved on the sample before any bulk is cut.

Kinds of denim shorts

Cut off shorts

Legs cut raw and frayed in the laundry or by hand, usually on a short women's high rise block. The fray length is a design point agreed on the sample, with a stay stitch to stop it running.

Hemmed denim shorts

A clean turned hem on a mid length short. The hem twists and puckers in the wash, giving the roped look vintage styles want, and the amount of roping is approved like a shade.

Turn up shorts

A cuff folded and tacked at the side seams, often showing the lighter reverse of the denim. The turn up is set after washing so its depth stays even all round.

Bermuda and knee length shorts

A longer leg to just above or on the knee, on men's relaxed and women's straight blocks. More denim per pair, and a leg opening that must suit the jean it was cut from.

Kids denim shorts

Pull-on or adjustable waist shorts in softer, lighter stretch denim, with little or no distressing, and rivets and buttons chosen for the children's rules of the market.

How to specify denim shorts

Denim and stretch
Rigid cotton or stretch with elastane, the weight, usually 9 to 12 oz for shorts, and the denim's shrinkage before washing. Weak recovery in stretch denim shows as bagging at the seat.
Block and rise
Women's high rise, mid rise or men's relaxed, and the jean the short comes from. A short cut from an untested block inherits that block's fit problems.
Inseam after washing
Inseam and leg opening per size after the wash. On a cut off, measure to the end of the fray, and say whether the inseam grades with size.
Wash recipe
Rinse, stone, enzyme, bleach or tint, with a physical wash standard for each shade. Words such as light vintage mean different things to different laundries.
Destroy and abrasion
Whiskers, sanding, rips and repairs drawn on the sample with positions. On a short leg, leave enough denim between a rip and the hem for the leg to hold together.
Metal trims
Shank button, rivets and zip in a finish that survives the laundry, with the plating named, since EU sales limit nickel release from parts resting on skin.

Tests to ask a denim shorts manufacturer in Bangladesh for

ISO 5077 with ISO 6330
Dimensional change after home washing on the finished short. The laundry shrinks denim once; this shows what the customer's first wash takes off a short inseam.
ISO 105-X12
Rubbing fastness, dry and wet. A dark rinse rubs far more indigo onto seats and light tops than a bleached wash, so ask for grades on every shade.
ISO 13934-1
Tensile strength of the woven denim after destroy and bleach. Heavy abrasion and bleaching weaken cotton, and a ripped short must not tear further on first wear.
US CPSIA
For kids sizes, age 12 and under: total lead at most 100 ppm in any accessible part and 90 ppm in paint or surface coatings, third party testing at a CPSC accepted laboratory, a permanent tracking label and a Children's Product Certificate. Dyed denim is a textile determined not to exceed the lead limit, so the tests fall on rivets, buttons and zips.

What moves the price of denim shorts

  • The wash: every step in the recipe, from stone to bleach to tint, is priced per garment.
  • Hand work: whiskers, sanding, rips and repairs are done piece by piece.
  • Denim: stretch and heavier rigid denim cost more per yard than light rigid cloth.
  • Laundry loss: extra pairs are cut to cover shorts damaged or off shade in the wash.
  • Custom rivets, a logo shank button and a metal zip in a finish that survives washing.

Lead time for denim shorts

The laundry is a full stage on denim shorts, with its own recipe, not the rinse a twill short gets. A wash is developed on sample shorts, approved, then repeated on a bulk trial before full production, with destroy work done by hand after it. A new recipe or bleach shade often needs a second round, and spring floor dates leave little slack.

What we check on denim shorts before shipment

  • Shade across wash loadsPairs from different wash loads compared with the approved shade band, so one carton never mixes two washes.
  • Inseam after the laundryInseam and leg opening measured on washed shorts in each size, with left and right legs checked to match.
  • Destroy position and strengthRips and abrasion checked for position against the sample, and the denim around each rip pulled gently to see it holds.
  • Rivets and button after washingRivets and shank buttons checked for rust, cracked plating and any loosening caused by the laundry tumble.

Questions buyers ask about denim shorts

Rigid or stretch denim for shorts?

Rigid cotton denim gives the vintage look and clean fray that cut offs sell on, and it softens with wear. Stretch denim with elastane fits closer and moves more easily, so it suits women's high rise and kids shorts. It frays less neatly, and its recovery at the seat needs checking.

Can denim shorts be cut from our jeans block?

Yes, and it is the usual route. The factory shortens the leg and sets the opening from your approved jean, while rise, seat and pockets stay the same, so the shorts fit like your jeans. A separate block for the shorts alone adds a fit round.

Why do denim shorts measure differently after washing?

Cotton denim shrinks in the laundry, mostly in length, and stretch denim can shrink more than rigid. The pattern is cut larger by the measured shrinkage of each denim lot, and the size chart is written in washed measurements. Ask for the shrinkage test on each lot before cutting.

Can a wash be repeated exactly on a reorder?

Closely, not exactly. The laundry keeps the recipe, but a new denim lot takes stone and bleach a little differently, so the first bulk trial of a reorder is compared with the physical wash standard before the run continues. Keep the approved standard and shade band from the first order, and ask for a fresh shrinkage test on each new denim lot before cutting.
