Kids leather sandals, your specification

Made to your tech pack, fabric and colours by a factory matched to the order.

Private label

Your main label, care label, hangtag and polybag. Nominated trims accepted.

Kids leather sandals take adult sandal shapes and scale them for feet that are still growing: a protected toe, a fastening that holds through running and climbing, and a sole that grips on playground surfaces. Children's brands and retailers buy them by age band, from first walkers to school age. A kids leather sandal manufacturer in Bangladesh also has to meet the children's product rules of each market the pairs are sold in.

Garments Hub BD has not vetted a sandal unit yet. For a children's enquiry the desk looks for units already shipping children's footwear to your market, asks where their buckles and soles have been tested, checks how every small part is fixed, visits the unit that fits, and replies within 5 working days with a real quote or a straight no.

Kinds of kids leather sandal

First walker sandal

A soft, flexible sole, a closed toe and one wide hook and loop strap, for children taking their first steps. It should bend easily at the forefoot and weigh very little.

Closed toe play sandal

A rubber toe bumper, padded straps with hook and loop and a treaded rubber sole. The bumper takes the knocks an open sandal leaves to the toes.

T-bar sandal

A T-bar strap and a side buckle over a closed or cut out toe, often with a heel counter. A dress and school shape, with the buckle size matched to the age band.

Open toe double strap

Two hook and loop straps across an open toe, plus a back strap, for older children. Cooler and lighter, with less protection for the toes.

How to specify a kids leather sandal

Age band and sizes
Name the age band as well as the sizes: first walker, toddler, junior or older. A children's run spreads one order over many sizes.
Fastening
Hook and loop with its width and how the strap end is stitched, or a buckle with a rounded tip and a covered prong. It must hold in play yet open quickly for a parent.
Sole and grip
Rubber or TPR, with the tread depth, flex at the ball of the foot, and whether the compound should be non marking for school and indoor floors.
Strap leather and lining
Soft calf or nappa, usually 1.0 to 1.4 mm, lined so that no raw edge or stitch end touches bare skin.
Small parts
List every buckle, rivet, bow, flower or badge and how each one is fixed. Stitched decoration holds better than glued decoration for the youngest age bands.
Growing room
The length allowance beyond the foot in each size, usually 10 to 15 mm on closed toe styles and a little less on open toes. Too little and the pair is outgrown early; too much and it slips.

Tests a kids leather sandal manufacturer in Bangladesh should plan for

CPSIA lead limits
For the US, sandals for children aged 12 and under are children's products: total lead at most 100 ppm in any accessible part, buckle and sole included, and 90 ppm in paint or surface coatings.
CPSIA testing and certificate
The same rule asks for third party testing at a CPSC accepted laboratory, a permanent tracking label and a Children's Product Certificate.
REACH Annex XVII, entries 47 and 27
Children often wear sandals barefoot. For the EU, strap and lining leathers must stay within 3 mg/kg of chromium VI, and buckles and rivets within 0.5 micrograms of nickel per square centimetre per week.
Small parts pull
Each buckle, rivet, bow and badge is pulled with a set force to show it stays on. Children's buyers usually ask for it, since a young child may bite or tug a loose part.
Sole slip resistance
Measures how well the outsole grips a wet and a dry floor of a stated surface. Ask for it on play and school styles.

What moves the price of a kids leather sandal

  • Size spread: many small sizes, each with graded patterns, cutting dies and, on moulded soles, its own mould.
  • A moulded rubber sole with a toe bumper, which costs more to tool than a flat sole cut from sheet.
  • Market testing: third party lead testing for the US and REACH tests for the EU, per material and colour.
  • Decoration such as bows, flowers or badges, each stitched on and pull tested.

Lead time for kids leather sandals

Kids leather sandal samples typically take 14 to 21 days, and bulk 45 to 70 days from approval of the pre-production pair. Fitting takes longer than on adult sandals, as the pattern is checked on the smallest, middle and largest size of each age band. Third party laboratory tests for the US or the EU add days and run on production materials. The quote confirms every date.

What we check on kids leather sandals before shipment

  • Fastening holdEvery buckle and hook and loop strap closes fully on each size and holds when the strap end is tugged by hand.
  • Small part securityRivets, bows and badges on pairs from each colour are tugged by hand, and any part that moves is reported before packing.
  • Inside finishNo raw edge, stitch end, tack or adhesive inside the sandal where a bare foot rubs, from the toe to the heel.
  • Sole tread and flexTread depth matches the approved sample, and the sole bends at the ball of the foot rather than under the arch.

Questions buyers ask about kids leather sandals

Which age bands should a first kids sandal order cover?

One or two bands is a sensible start, such as toddler and junior, because each band needs its own last and sole tooling. Tell the unit the ages you sell to as well as the sizes, so the shape and fastening suit the child.

Hook and loop or a buckle for children's sandals?

Hook and loop for younger children: a parent fastens it in seconds and it fits a wide range of insteps, though it wears with use. A buckle suits older children and dress styles, with a rounded tip and plating that meets EU nickel limits.

Do kids leather sandals sold in the US need CPSIA testing?

Yes, for children aged 12 and under. Every accessible part must stay within the total lead limits, the pairs need third party testing at a CPSC accepted laboratory, and each style needs a permanent tracking label and a Children's Product Certificate.

Are leather soles suitable for children's sandals?

Rarely for everyday wear. A plain leather sole is slippery and wears quickly with running. Rubber or TPR with a tread suits play and school styles; a leather sole with a rubber top piece can work on a dress style for older children.
