We do not have a tannery or a leather goods unit on the bench yet.

This is a category we are building. Send the enquiry anyway and we will find and vet a unit, visit it, and come back inside 5 working days with either a real quote or a straight no. We will not claim a capability we do not have, and we will not take an order we cannot stand on the floor and inspect.

If you already work with a unit here and want us to manage the quality and the shipping, say so in the enquiry. That we can do from day one.

Leather wallets, your specification

Made to your tech pack, fabric and colours by a factory matched to the order.

Private label

Your main label, care label, hangtag and polybag. Nominated trims accepted.

A wallet is several layers of leather folded and stitched together: card slots, a note section and sometimes a coin pocket. Every layer adds thickness, so a wallet stays slim only if each layer is skived thin where it folds and joins. Men's accessory brands, gift ranges and fashion labels buy them. A leather wallet manufacturer in Bangladesh is tested first on skiving, then on edges.

Garments Hub BD has not vetted a wallet unit yet. The desk looks for units with skiving machines and steady edge painting, visits them with your sample, and replies within 5 working days with a real quote or a straight no. Thickness at the fold goes into the inspection brief, because that is where first orders usually go wrong.

Kinds of leather wallet

Bifold

One fold, usually six to eight card slots and a full length note section. The core men's wallet, and simpler to keep slim than a trifold.

Trifold

Two folds and more slots in the same footprint. More layers meet at each fold, so skiving matters even more than on a bifold, and the closed wallet sits thicker.

Zip around long wallet

A zip on three sides closing a long body with note sections, card slots and a central zipped coin pocket. Common in women's ranges, and the long zip has to be set neatly round each corner.

Slim bifold

Fewer slots, thinner leather and no coin pocket, built to sit flat in a front pocket. It is sold on thinness, so every layer is counted.

How to specify a leather wallet

Closed thickness
Thickness in millimetres when closed and empty, and again with a stated number of cards. This one figure forces the skiving to be right.
Skiving map
Which edges and folds are skived and to what thickness; slot layers are usually skived to 0.4 to 0.6 mm at the fold.
Card slots
Count, depth and the step between slots. A bank card is about 86 by 54 mm, and each slot should hold it without gaping.
Note section
Length to fit the longest banknote in your market, and whether the section has a divider.
Coin pocket
Snap closed or zipped, with or without a gusset, and its position in the wallet.
Edges and RFID option
Painted raw edges or folded edges, and the paint colour. An RFID blocking lining is a buyer option: the material is named, its performance is not tested.

Tests to ask a leather wallet manufacturer in Bangladesh for

REACH Annex XVII, entry 47
A wallet is handled daily and carried against the body, so EU buyers have each wallet leather tested against the 3 mg/kg chromium VI limit.
REACH Annex XVII, entry 43
Ask for a report per wallet leather colour showing azo dyes that release listed amines stay under the 30 mg/kg limit.
LWG
If your wallet range needs leather from a tannery rated gold, silver, bronze or audited, raise it at the enquiry, since it limits which tanneries can supply.

What moves the price of a leather wallet

  • Layer count: every card slot is a layer to cut, skive, paint and stitch.
  • Edge finish: painted edges need several coats, and folded edges need skiving and turning.
  • A coin pocket adds a gusset, a snap or zip, and another fold.
  • Leather: thin, even goatskin or calfskin skives cleaner and costs more than corrected cowhide.
  • An RFID blocking lining, bought in and laminated per piece.

Lead time for leather wallets

Wallet samples usually take 14 to 21 days and bulk 45 to 75 days after the PP sample is approved in writing. If the first sample comes back too thick, a second follows with a revised skiving map, so allow for it in the plan. An RFID lining is bought in and adds days if not in stock. The quote confirms the dates.

What we check on leather wallets before shipment

  • Closed thicknessWallets measured closed, empty and with the stated cards, against the thickness in the specification.
  • Card fitA real card goes into each slot, stays put when the wallet is turned upside down and comes out without force.
  • Fold edgesPainted edges at the fold flexed by hand; the paint must not crack or lift.
  • Note sectionThe longest banknote in the target market fits without bending at either end.

Questions buyers ask about leather wallets

Why was my last wallet sample too thick?

Usually because the layers were not skived. Each card slot is a layer of leather, and at the fold several meet. Unless each is thinned at the fold and seam, the wallet ends up bulky and stiff. Send a skiving map and a closed thickness target, and the sample has a standard to meet.

How many card slots should a bifold wallet have?

Usually six to eight. More slots mean more layers and a thicker wallet. A slim bifold drops to four and adds a slip pocket. Decide the count with the closed thickness in mind, since the two are linked, and ask for a sample loaded with your target number of cards.

Can the wallet be RFID blocking?

It can carry an RFID blocking lining as an option you choose. The material is named in the specification, but the wallet is not tested for blocking performance, so your product copy should not promise a result. Choose the lining by its stated material and thickness, as it adds a little bulk.

Painted or folded edges on a wallet?

Painted raw edges are the norm and look clean when three or more coats are sanded between. Folded edges are turned over and stitched, look softer and avoid paint cracking, but need more skiving and more time per piece. On a slim bifold, painted edges keep the outline thinner.
