Capri leggings stop between the knee and the ankle, most often at mid calf. They sell in summer ranges, in hot markets all year, and as gym and walking wear where a full length feels too warm. The length is the product, so a capri leggings manufacturer in Bangladesh needs an inseam per size in centimetres, a hem finish and a calf opening, not just the word capri, which means a different length to every buyer.
The desk puts one length chart to two bench factories, so their quotes and fit samples land at the same point on the leg. If you sell full length and capri in one style, ask for both lengths on the same quote sheet; the PP sample is then measured at each inseam before any bulk is cut.
Kinds of capri leggings
Three quarter length
Ends just below the knee. The shortest crop, often sold for gym and cycling, where a hem at the knee would ride up as the leg bends.
Mid calf capri
The classic capri, ending halfway down the calf. The hem has to sit on the calf without gripping it, so the calf opening matters as much as the length.
Seven eighths crop
Ends just above the ankle bone. Sold where a full length bunches at the ankle on shorter wearers, and as a cleaner line above a trainer.
Raw cut capri
Cut clean with no hem, on a warp knit that does not curl or ladder. The flattest finish on the calf, but only some fabrics hold a raw edge through washing.
Split hem capri
A short vent at the outer hem with a bonded or bound edge. It lets the opening relax over the calf and adds a detail without changing the length.
Lengths and hems to give a capri leggings manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Inseam per size
- Crotch to hem in centimetres for every size, and whether the inseam grades with size or stays fixed across the range.
- Calf opening
- Relaxed and stretched hem circumference per size. Too tight and it marks the calf; too loose and the hem flares and rides up.
- Hem finish
- Coverstitch, bonded, raw cut or split. Coverstitch suits almost any knit; bonded and raw edges suit warp knits and need the fabric tested first.
- Fabric for warm weather
- A lighter knit, usually 180 to 220 GSM, in nylon, polyester or cotton elastane, with opacity checked in the palest shade.
- Sun protection claim
- If the hangtag will state a UPF, name the market and its standard, and ask whether the rating was measured relaxed or stretched.
- Lengths in one style
- If capri and full length share a style, send both inseams, so the factory plans a marker for each length from one fabric order.
Tests for capri leggings in warm climates
- AS/NZS 4399
- UPF test and classification for Australia and New Zealand. A knit lets more light through as it stretches, so check how the specimen was prepared before printing a rating.
- EN 13758-1 and EN 13758-2
- The EU method and its classification. A garment may carry the EU UV mark only at UPF 40 and above.
- ISO 105-B02
- Colour fastness to light, graded 1 to 8 against the blue wool references. Bright summer shades fade in sun, so ask for a grade on each bright colour.
- ISO 5077 with ISO 6330
- Dimensional change in washing. On a cropped leg, a few percent of length shrinkage moves the hem visibly up the calf.
What moves the price of capri leggings
- Hem finish: bonded and raw cut hems need a fabric trial and more handling than a coverstitch.
- Fabric: nylon elastane for gym capris costs more than cotton elastane for casual ones.
- Fabric saved: a capri uses less cloth than a full length, though sewing time is nearly the same.
- Lengths per style: each extra inseam is another marker, size set and measurement check.
- UPF and light fastness reports: lab fees per fabric and colour tested.
Lead time for capri leggings
Capri leggings sample in 7 to 14 days and go into bulk 30 to 60 days after PP sign off, with 60 to 90 days typical from order confirmation to shipment. A UPF report or a light fastness test on new summer shades adds days, as does a bonded hem trialled on the bulk fabric first. Plan summer deliveries back from these figures; the quote confirms them.
What we check on capri leggings before shipment
- Inseam after a washEach graded size is measured crotch to hem after washing, since a capri that shrinks in length changes where it ends on the leg.
- Left and right lengthBoth legs are measured against each other; a difference shows clearly on a hem that ends mid calf.
- Hem stretchThe coverstitched hem is stretched over the calf's working stretch to check the stitches do not crack.
- Raw and bonded edgesRaw cut and bonded hems are washed and checked for curling, laddering or the bond lifting.
Questions buyers ask about capri leggings
What inseam should a capri legging have?
The one your size chart calls for, in centimetres per size. Capri usually means mid calf, three quarter means just below the knee and seven eighths ends above the ankle, but the names overlap between brands. Try the fit sample on wearers of different heights before fixing the length.
Raw edge or coverstitched hem on capris?
A coverstitch hem is cheaper, suits almost any knit and lasts. A raw cut or bonded hem lies flatter and looks cleaner, but only on fabrics that do not curl or run, and only after a wash test on the bulk fabric. Many ranges keep raw edges for their higher priced lines.
Can capri leggings carry a UPF rating?
Yes, if the fabric is tested to the standard of the market: AS/NZS 4399 for Australia and New Zealand, EN 13758 for the EU, where the UV mark needs UPF 40 and above. Ask the lab whether it tested the knit relaxed or stretched, because protection drops as the knit opens.
Can capri and full length be ordered in the same style?
Yes. They share the pattern above the knee, the fabric and the waistband, so one fit sample covers the body and each length is checked by inseam. Each length still needs its own marker and size ratio, and both factories state their minimums on the quote sheet.
