Cropped chinos, your specification

Made to your tech pack, fabric and colours by a factory matched to the order.

Private label

Your main label, care label, hangtag and polybag. Nominated trims accepted.

Cropped chinos stop above the ankle bone, either cut short with a plain hem or finished with a turn up. They are a fashion and spring summer style, often in lighter twill and brighter shades than the core chino, and they sell on proportion: a centimetre too long and the trouser looks like a mistake. A cropped chinos manufacturer in Bangladesh works to a fixed inseam, so the length is set in the pattern rather than left to the customer.

Garments Hub BD sends a cropped style to two factories on its bench with one inseam per size and the turn up drawn in. Every stage is photographed, the hem and turn up of the pre-production sample included, and those photographs are yours to keep for range sign off and for the next reorder.

Kinds of cropped chinos

Plain hem ankle crop

Cut to sit just above the ankle bone with a clean single or twin needle hem. The simplest crop to grade and the most common in menswear.

Stitched turn up crop

A turn up of usually 3 to 4 cm, tacked at side seam and inseam so it stays put through washing. It fixes the length and reads more tailored.

Loose roll crop

A turn up pressed in but not stitched, which the wearer can unroll or roll again. It shows the back face of the twill, so that face has to look right.

Vented crop

A short slit at the side seam hem lets a narrow cropped leg clear the foot. Seen mostly in womenswear and in relaxed fits.

Briefing a cropped chinos manufacturer in Bangladesh

Inseam in centimetres
The finished inseam per size, after washing, rather than a word like ankle. Men's crops typically land between 66 and 71 cm on a size 32.
Turn up
Stitched or loose, its depth and where it is tacked. A turn up needs extra length in the pattern, usually twice its depth plus a hem allowance.
Leg opening
A cropped leg is seen in full, so its width is part of the design. State it flat, and say whether it tapers more than the full length style.
Inseam grading
Decide whether the inseam grades with the waist or stays fixed. Grading keeps the crop at the same point on taller and shorter wearers.
Hem stitch
Single needle, twin needle or blind stitch. On a crop the hem is in plain view, so the stitch type is a design choice, not a detail.
Colour plan
Crops often carry seasonal shades beside core neutrals. List them early, since each shade has its own lab dip.

Tests for cropped chinos

AATCC 150
Dimensional change of the made garment after home laundering, the US method. A crop that loses a few percent of length moves its hem off the ankle, so test the trouser, not just the cloth.
ISO 105-B02
Sun fading of a crop's seasonal shades, graded 1 to 8 against the blue wool references. Pale and bright colours lose depth sooner than navy or khaki, so ask for it on those.

What moves the price of cropped chinos

  • A stitched turn up adds fabric length, pressing and two tacking operations on every leg.
  • Seasonal colours in small quantities, each with its own lab dip and dye lot.
  • An inseam graded by size rather than fixed, which adds pattern and marker work.
  • Lighter twill can cost less per metre, though some bright shades need dearer dyes.
  • Side vents or a shaped hem, which add sewing at the most visible point of the trouser.

Lead time for cropped chinos

A cropped style keeps the usual pace of 7 to 14 days per sample, provided the inseam is settled at the fit sample. After the pre-production sample is approved, bulk for the crop runs 30 to 60 days. Changing the length after fit approval means a new pattern and often a second PP sample, and bright seasonal shades may need more than one lab dip round.

What we check on cropped chinos before shipment

  • Inseam to toleranceFinished inseam measured on every sampled size, because on a crop a one centimetre error changes where the hem sits on the leg.
  • Turn up depth and tacksBoth turn ups the same depth, with tacks at the side seam and inseam exactly where the spec places them.
  • Back face shadeOn loose turn ups the reverse of the twill shows, so it is checked for streaks and for shade against the face.
  • Hem ropingThe hem is checked for roping, the twist a twill hem picks up when the machine feed runs unevenly.

Questions buyers ask about cropped chinos

What inseam should a men's cropped chino have?

Typically 66 to 71 cm on a size 32, against 76 to 81 cm for full length. Shorter suits a slim leg worn without socks; longer suits a relaxed leg with trainers. Set it on your fit model at the fit sample and lock it in centimetres.

Is a stitched or a loose turn up better for retail?

A stitched turn up survives washing and arrives as designed, so it suits a range sold online. A loose roll is more casual and lets the customer adjust it, but it unrolls in the wash and shows the back of the twill.

Can a cropped style be cut from our full length pattern?

Usually, yes. The factory shortens the leg and often narrows the opening slightly so the crop does not flare. Treat it as its own style on the size chart, with its own inseam per size, and approve its fit sample separately.

Do cropped chinos need more than one length per waist?

Usually not. Crops are normally sold in one inseam per waist size, which keeps the size grid small. If the inseam grades with the waist, mark it on the chart, or the factory may cut one length for every size.
