A denim pouch is a flat zipped case: two panels, a zip across the top, sometimes a lining and a wrist strap. Brands use it as a cosmetic bag, a pencil case, a cable pouch or a gift with purchase, often in three or four nesting sizes. A denim pouch manufacturer in Bangladesh can sew it on the machines used for jeans, and because the zip is the hardest part, a pouch order shows how carefully a plant sets zips.
A pouch enquiry at Garments Hub BD goes to two denim plants from the bench, and both prices come back on one sheet within 48 hours, with each size priced on its own line. Before sampling, the desk checks the zip each plant proposes against the one you asked for.
Kinds of denim pouch
Flat zip pouch
Two panels and a top zip with no gusset. The cheapest form, used for pencils, cables, passports and documents, and the one most often ordered as a giveaway.
Boxed bottom pouch
Corners boxed at the base so the pouch stands open on a shelf, used for cosmetics and toiletries. Usually lined with a coated fabric that wipes clean.
Nesting set
The same design graded into three or four sizes and sold as a set or singly. Each size is a separate pattern and a separate price line on the quote.
Wristlet pouch
A flat pouch with a detachable wrist strap on a D-ring and swivel clip. The strap moves it from cosmetic case to small clutch for a modest extra cost.
Unlined giveaway pouch
Single layer denim with overlocked inside seams and a coil zip. The lowest cost version, packed for events, subscription boxes and gift with purchase offers.
How to specify a denim pouch
- Sizes
- Width, height and base depth in millimetres for every size in the set, and which sizes nest inside each other.
- Zip
- Coil or metal teeth, the zip size, usually 3 or 5 for a pouch, the tape colour and the puller. Name a zip supplier if your brand requires one.
- Zip ends
- Fabric tabs over the zip ends, or the zip running into the side seams. Tabs look neater and stop the slider running off.
- Lining
- Unlined, cotton drill, polyester or a coated wipe clean lining for cosmetics. A coated lining should be checked for cracking at the fold.
- Denim weight
- Typically 8 to 12 oz. Heavier denim gives a firmer pouch but bunches at the zip ends and the turned corners.
- Branding
- A woven label in the side seam, embroidery, a printed lining or a branded puller, with size and position.
Tests for denim pouches
- OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100
- Certifies the denim, lining and zip tape as tested for harmful substances. Often asked for on cosmetic pouches, which are handled daily and kept near skin care products.
- US CPSIA
- A pencil pouch designed for children aged 12 and under is a children's product in the US: lead limits on the puller and prints, a tracking label, third party testing and a certificate.
- REACH Annex XVII, entry 43
- Bars azo dyes that release listed amines above 30 mg/kg in textiles for the EU. Printed linings and dyed zip tapes have to pass, as well as the denim itself.
What moves the price at a denim pouch manufacturer in Bangladesh
- The zip is a large share of the cost on a small pouch, and metal teeth cost more than coil.
- Lining: unlined is cheapest, then cotton, then a coated wipe clean lining.
- Boxed corners and zip end tabs each add a step to every pouch.
- Number of sizes in the set, since each one is cut and priced separately.
- Branded pullers need a mould and carry their own minimum quantity.
Lead time for denim pouches
Pouch samples typically take 7 to 14 days, and bulk usually runs 30 to 60 days after the pre-production sample is approved. A coloured zip tape, a custom puller or a printed lining adds days, because each is ordered for the job. Simple unlined pouches sit at the short end of the range. The quote gives each date.
What we check on denim pouches before shipment
- Zip runEvery sampled pouch is zipped open and shut several times, checking for a slider that snags at the corners or the ends.
- Zip topstitchingThe stitching beside the zip is checked for straight lines with no waves, a common sign of rushed zip work.
- Corner fillTurned and boxed corners are checked for full shape and no holes where the zip ends meet the side seams.
- Size set fitEach size in a nesting set is measured to confirm it slides inside the next size up.
Questions buyers ask about denim pouches
Why are pouches a good first order?
They are small, cheap and quick, and the zip shows a plant's skill. Clean zip setting with straight topstitching and tidy ends is a good sign for a larger bag order later. A pouch order also tests shade, labelling and packing on a small spend.
Coil or metal zip on a denim pouch?
Metal teeth suit the denim look and last well, but cost more and can scratch a phone or glasses. Nylon coil zips are lighter, cheaper and run smoothly round curved corners. Some ranges use metal on large sizes and coil on small.
Can I mix sizes and colours to reach the minimum?
The minimum is normally counted per colour, and the sizes within one colour can usually be split between them. The quote sheet shows how each plant counts it, so check that before you fix the size mix for the set.
Can the pouch be printed inside?
Yes, with a lining fabric bought ready printed or printed for the job. A printed lining needs its own strike-off and adds days. A woven label in the side seam is the cheaper way to carry the brand on a giveaway.
