A coin purse is a single compartment closed by a zip, a frame clasp or a spring, often lined and with a small pull tab. It is cheap to make, which is why brands add it to a wallet order in the same leather and edge colour. Buyers are accessory brands, gift shops and souvenir ranges. A leather coin purse manufacturer in Bangladesh can often cut it from wallet offcuts.
Garments Hub BD has not vetted a coin purse unit yet. The desk looks for small leather goods units, visits them, and replies within 5 working days with a real quote or a straight no. When the purse is added to a wallet order, ask for both in one quote so the leather is bought once and cut together.
Kinds of leather coin purse
Zip coin pouch
A zip running round three sides or across the top, with a leather pull tab and a cotton lining. The usual kind, and cheaper to make well than a framed purse.
Kiss lock frame purse
Two metal balls that click shut on a small frame. Fitting the frame is the skilled step, and the frame itself is a large share of the cost.
Squeeze purse
A slit opening held by a spring steel strip that opens when the ends are pressed. No visible hardware, usually unlined, and a quick make once the spring strips are sourced.
Tray coin purse
One piece of leather that snaps up into a box and opens flat into a tray. No lining, no zip and very little sewing, so the edge finish is most of the work.
How to specify a leather coin purse
- Opening
- Zip length and teeth, frame width and clasp, or spring length for a squeeze purse, all in millimetres.
- Size
- Inside width and height, sized to the coins and folded notes of the market you sell into.
- Lining
- Cotton, polyester or none, and its colour. A light lining makes coins easier to find in a small pouch.
- Pull tab
- Tab size, edge finish, and whether it carries a debossed logo or initials. A tab cut from the wallet leather keeps the set matched.
- Match to the wallet
- Same leather lot, edge paint colour and thread as the wallet run, if the purse is an add on.
- Leather
- Soft goatskin or cowhide, usually 0.7 to 1.0 mm, so the purse folds round coins without stiffness.
Tests and certificates for leather coin purses
- REACH Annex XVII, entry 47
- A coin purse is opened with bare fingers every day, so EU orders test it together with the wallet leather against the 3 mg/kg chromium VI limit.
- OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100
- Covers the cotton or polyester lining of the purse for harmful substances. Ask for the lining certificate when your buyer requires it on textiles.
- ISO 105-X12
- A dark purse lining is rubbed constantly by coins and fingers, so ask for its rubbing fastness, dry and wet, graded 1 to 5.
What moves the price at a leather coin purse manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Closure: a zip costs less than a kiss lock frame and the skill to fit it.
- Lining: an unlined squeeze or tray purse saves fabric and a sewing stage.
- Shared cutting: on a wallet order the purse can come from the same hides and offcuts.
- A logo on the pull tab, a small die stamped per piece.
Lead time for leather coin purses
Coin purse samples usually take 14 to 21 days and bulk 45 to 75 days after the PP sample is approved in writing. Added to a wallet order, the purse runs alongside it and usually ships with it. A kiss lock frame bought to size adds days before the proto. The quote confirms the dates.
What we check on leather coin purses before shipment
- Zip at the cornersThe zip runs round each corner without catching the lining or bunching the tape.
- Tab holdThe pull tab stitched or riveted firmly and holding a strong tug without tearing.
- Colour match to walletsPurses compared with wallets from the same order for leather and edge paint colour.
- Frame claspThe kiss lock clicks shut and stays shut with coins inside when shaken.
Questions buyers ask about leather coin purses
Can a coin purse be added to my wallet order?
Yes. It uses the same leather and edge paint and can often be cut from offcuts, so it adds value without much added cost. Ask for both in one quote. The purse has its own minimum per colour, which the quote confirms.
Zip or frame for a leather coin purse?
A zip is cheaper, flatter and the usual choice. A kiss lock frame looks vintage, opens wide and suits gift ranges, but the frame and its fitting cost more. A squeeze purse shows no hardware at all and suits a minimal range.
Does a leather coin purse need a lining?
Not always. A lining hides the flesh side and makes coins easier to see, but it adds a layer and a sewing step. Tray and squeeze purses are usually unlined, with the flesh side sealed so it does not shed.
Can the purse match the wallet colour exactly?
Closest when it is cut from the same hide lot as the wallets. A purse from a different dye lot can differ visibly under shop lights. Put both on one order and ask for them to be cut together, then approve the colour on a sample of each in daylight.
