Kinds of leather travel bag
Weekender holdall
A flat rectangular base, a wide zip opening and two rolled handles, with a detachable shoulder strap. Packs two or three nights of clothes and a wash bag.
Cabin size holdall
Built to a stated carry on size, measured with handles, feet and pockets included. The pattern starts from the limit and works inwards, not from a look.
Garment holdall
Holds a suit on a hanger over an internal bar, with a hook hole at the top. It opens flat to hang in a wardrobe, then folds and carries as a holdall.
Holdall with a trolley sleeve
A strap panel on the back slides over a suitcase handle so the holdall rides on wheeled luggage. Adds a panel but spares the shoulder on long walks.
What to tell a leather travel bag manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Size against carry on
- External length, height and depth including feet, handles and pockets. Many carry on limits sit around 550 x 400 x 200 mm and differ by airline, so name the one to design to.
- Base reinforcement
- A second leather layer or a base board, and feet, usually five, with their height. The base carries the packed weight and meets every floor.
- Hardware
- Snap hooks and D rings sized to a strap usually 38 to 50 mm wide, in solid brass or plated zinc alloy, and the plating colour.
- Handles
- Rolled over a core or flat, the handle drop, and a leather wrap with a press stud that holds the pair together.
- Zip

How is a leather travel bag different from a duffle bag?
Here a travel bag is a flat based holdall or weekender with feet, sized for clothes and nights away. A duffle is the barrel shaped gym and sports bag with round end panels. The holdall needs a heavier base and hardware; the duffle stands or falls on its long zip.
How do I keep a leather holdall within carry on limits?
Design from the outside in: start from the limit you name, then subtract the feet, handles and front pocket depth before setting the body size. Leather does not squash like nylon, so a bag that measures over the limit empty stays over when packed.
Is solid brass hardware worth it on a travel bag?
On a heavy holdall, often yes. Solid brass shows no different metal underneath when the surface wears, and the snap hooks take the full packed weight. Plated zinc alloy costs less and suits smaller bags if the plating passes a salt spray test.
Will a garment holdall keep a suit free of creases?
It keeps a suit far better than folding it into a holdall, because the jacket hangs on a bar and folds once over a padded roll. Some creasing at the fold is normal on long trips. Specify the suit size range it must hold, so the bar and length are right.
