A bucket hat has no peak. A crown of usually four or six side panels and a top piece sits inside a brim that runs all round and slopes down. The brim is two or three layers of cloth held by rows of stitching, which set how stiff it is. Kinds of bucket hat
Cotton twill bucket hats
Cotton twill or canvas, plain or washed, with a two layer brim and several stitching rows. Choose it for everyday fashion and merchandise.
Reversible bucket hats
Two complete shells joined at the brim edge, each wearable outside, often a print one side and a plain the other. Choose it for two looks in one hat; it needs two cloths and clean seams on both faces.
Nylon and ripstop bucket hats
Light, quick drying and packable, with a soft brim. Choose it for outdoor and festival ranges, with a repellent finish if needed.
Terry bucket hats
Cotton towelling loops on the outside, soft and absorbent, usually lined to hold the brim. Choose it for resort and beach ranges.
Wide brim boonie hats
A wider brim, often with side snaps, vents and a chin cord. Choose it for outdoor, fishing and sun protection ranges.
What to give a bucket hat manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Brim width
- Finished width at front, sides and back, usually 5 to 7 cm on fashion hats and wider on outdoor ones, and its downward slope.
- Brim build and stitching
- Two or three layers, any interlining, and the number and spacing of stitching rows. More rows make a stiffer brim.
- Crown
- Four or six side panels and a top, crown depth in centimetres, and vent eyelets if wanted.
- Sizes
- Head circumference per size, often S/M and L/XL, and whether an inner elastic or a drawcord adjusts the fit.
- All over or placed, repeat size, and how the print meets at the crown seams and the brim edge.
- Lining and label
- Lined or unlined, label position, and on reversible hats a label that does not show on either face.
Tests and certificates for bucket hats
- AS/NZS 4399
- Tests and classifies the UPF of the bucket hat's crown and brim cloth. Ask for it if the hat is sold as sun protective in Australia or New Zealand.
- EN 13758-1
- The EU test method for UV protection of the fabric; under the marking part, EN 13758-2, the EU UV mark is allowed only at UPF 40 and above.
- ISO 105-C06
- Wash fastness with staining of the adjacent fabric, which matters on reversible hats, where a dark print and a pale plain are sewn and washed together.
What moves the price of a bucket hat
- Reversible build: two shells, two cloths and clean seams on both faces cost more than a lined hat.
- Brim stitching: more rows mean more machine time per hat.
- Print: an all over print matched at the seams uses more cloth than a plain or a placed print.
- Fabric: terry, sherpa or ripstop with a repellent finish are priced differently per metre from twill.
- Extras: side snaps, vents, eyelets and a chin cord each add trims and operations.
Lead time for bucket hats
A bucket hat sample usually takes 10 to 14 days and bulk usually 35 to 50 days after the PP sample. A custom all over print adds strike off approval and printing before cutting, and a reversible build adds a second fabric to lab dip. Repellent finishes and trims dyed to match add days. Ship dates are confirmed in the quote.

Questions buyers ask about bucket hats
How stiff should the brim be?
It depends on the look. Two layers with a few rows of stitching give a soft, drooping brim; three layers or an interlining with close rows give a firmer brim that holds its line. Approve stiffness on a sample, because it is hard to describe in words.
Can a bucket hat be printed all over?
Yes, with rotary or digital printing on cotton, or sublimation on polyester. Ask how the print will meet at the crown seams and the brim edge, and approve a strike off first. Placed prints cost less where the pattern need not match at seams.
Can my bucket hats carry a UPF claim?
Only with test results behind it. The fabric is tested to AS/NZS 4399 for Australia and New Zealand, or to EN 13758-1 in the EU, where the UV mark needs UPF 40 and above. Brim width also decides how much of the face is shaded.
What sizes do bucket hats come in?
Usually S/M and L/XL by head circumference, sometimes one size with an inner elastic. A child size is a smaller block with a narrower brim, not a shrunk adult hat. Give the circumference per size on the enquiry.
