PE kit is the school's sports uniform: a tee or polo, shorts or a skort, a sweatshirt or quarter zip for outdoor lessons, and often a tracksuit for fixtures. Schools, uniform suppliers and schoolwear retailers buy it as one order in fixed school colours. A PE kit manufacturer in Bangladesh has to hold one shade across knit and woven fabrics, size every piece by age and keep the crest consistent from tee to tracksuit.
Garments Hub BD briefs two plants on its bench that make school sportswear with the full kit list, and each prices the pieces one by one and as a kit. One school colour standard travels with the brief, and lab dips on every fabric are judged against it side by side.
Garments in a PE kit
PE tees and polos
Polyester or poly cotton tees, usually 140 to 180 GSM, or a pique polo for schools that want a collar. Often with a contrast sleeve or side panel in the second school colour.
PE shorts and skorts
Woven polyester or knit shorts with an elastic waist, and skorts, a skirt with shorts built in, for girls' lists. Waist cords on younger sizes follow the children's cord rules of the market.
Sweatshirts and quarter zips
Fleece or brushed back polyester for outdoor lessons, crew neck or with a short neck zip. Heavier than the rest of the kit, and the piece that pills first on the playground.
Tracksuits
Polyester tricot or knit jacket and trousers for fixtures and travel, with stripes or panels in school colours. The two pieces pair by size and are packed as a set or sold apart.
Sublimated sports tops
White polyester printed all over with panels, stripes and the crest. Suits house colours and team tops, since the print sits in the fibre and the cost does not rise with colour count.
How to brief a PE kit manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Kit list
- Every garment with its fabric and weight, and which pieces are compulsory or optional. Quantities differ by garment, because not every pupil buys the tracksuit.
- One colour standard
- A physical school colour standard and the light it is judged in. Polyester, poly cotton and woven shorts take dye differently, so agree how close each piece must sit.
- Crest per garment
- Embroidered on tees and sweatshirts, a transfer on shorts, or part of a sublimated panel, with size and position drawn for each garment.
- Sizes by age
- One age run across the kit, from infant ages through to adult sizes, with a chart per garment. Tops and bottoms often need different quantity curves.
- Waists and cords
- Elastic width per size, and whether a drawcord is wanted on older sizes. Most buyers leave cords off the younger ages.
- How the minimum counts
- Ask each factory whether its minimum is per garment per colour or per fabric per colour. Five garments in two colours can mean ten lines.
- Socks
- Socks come from sock knitting units, not garment lines. Name them in the enquiry and the desk says whether they can be quoted alongside the kit.
Tests and rules for PE kits
- ISO 105-E04
- Colour fastness to perspiration. PE kit is worn wet through a lesson, so dark and bright school colours need grades for shade change and staining onto white.
- ISO 12945-2
- Pilling on the modified Martindale, for sweatshirts and quarter zips rubbed by bags, benches and playground walls.
- EN 14682
- The EU rules for cords and drawstrings on children's clothing apply to waist cords on shorts and tracksuit trousers and to any hood cord on a warm layer.
- US CPSIA
- For kits sold in the US for age 12 and under: total lead at most 100 ppm in any accessible part and 90 ppm in paint or surface coatings, third party testing at a CPSC accepted laboratory, a permanent tracking label and a Children's Product Certificate.
What moves the price of a PE kit
- The number of fabrics: each base adds a lab dip, a dye lot and a fabric minimum.
- Sublimated panels, which add paper, ink and pressing to every top.
- Crest embroidery repeated across garments, priced by stitch count each time.
- Contrast panels and stripes in a second colour, each a cut piece or a print step.
- Tracksuits and quarter zips, which carry zips and more fabric per pupil than the other pieces.
Lead time for school PE kit
A kit ships when its last piece is ready. Lab dips on every fabric must pass against the school colour before cutting, sublimated tops need a strike off on the bulk polyester, and the crest is digitised and stitched out on each garment type. Tops, shorts and tracksuits may run on different lines, so the quote dates each garment and the day the whole kit is packed.
What we check on school PE kit before shipment
- Kit shade togetherTop, shorts and sweatshirt of each colour laid side by side in the light box against the school standard.
- Crest on each garment typeCrest size and position checked on every garment against its own drawing, since each piece places it differently.
- Waist build by ageYounger sizes checked for no waist cord; older sizes for the cord length and fixing specified.
- Sizes across the kitSize labels on tops and bottoms checked against each garment's chart, so an age 9 top and age 9 shorts fit the same pupil.
Questions buyers ask about school PE kit
Can a PE kit be ordered in a summer and a winter drop?
Yes. Tees, polos and shorts usually ship for the summer term and sweatshirts, quarter zips and tracksuits before the winter, each drop with its own dates worked back from term start. The school colour standard, crest file and size charts carry over, so the second drop is judged against the first, and fabric shared between drops can be booked once to meet the mill minimum.
Can PE shorts and tops match when the fabrics differ?
Closely, not exactly. A polyester top and a woven or poly cotton short take dye differently, so lab dips for both are raised against one school standard and approved together under one light. Agree the tolerance between garments before bulk.
Embroidery or sublimation for the crest?
Embroidery suits tees, polos and sweatshirts: it lasts and looks formal. Sublimation suits white polyester tops with house colours or full panels, prints the crest into the cloth and adds no weight. Shorts often carry a transfer crest, lighter than embroidery on thin fabric.
Can the kit be ordered in house colours?
Yes. House tops are often sublimated on one white polyester base, so only the print changes from house to house. Each house colour is still its own line on the quote, so give quantities per house and per size.
