Kinds of embroidered hoodie
Flat chest embroidery
A logo stitched flat on the left or centre chest in satin and fill stitches. Choose it for most brand and club hoodies; on brushed fleece it needs topping to sit above the loft.
3D puff embroidery
Satin stitches over a foam layer, usually 2 to 4 mm thick, raise the design off the fleece. Choose it for bold letters and simple shapes; fine detail and small text do not puff well.
Appliqué embroidery
A shaped piece of twill or felt stitched down with a satin edge. Choose it for large college letters and crests; it cuts the stitch count on big shapes.
Chenille patch
A looped, towel textured patch made on a chenille machine and sewn on. Choose it for varsity styles; it is a separate component with its own lead time.
Hood and sleeve embroidery
Text or marks on the side of the hood or down a sleeve. Choose it as a second branding point; hood panels are embroidered flat before the hood is assembled.
What to send an embroidered hoodie manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Stitch count
- The stitch count in thousands from your digitised file, or ask both factories to estimate it from the artwork. It sets the embroidery price.
- Backing and topping
- Cut away backing behind the design to stop the fleece stretching, and water soluble topping on the face so stitches stay above the loft.
- Position
- Distance from the neck seam and centre front for chest work, and from the shoulder or cuff for sleeves, with a tolerance.
- Hood embroidery
- On a double layer hood, the outer panel is embroidered before the lining goes in, so the backing is hidden. Say which layer carries the design.
- Thread colours
- Thread card references for each colour, or tonal thread matched to the fleece under daylight.
- Puff and appliqué
- Foam thickness and colour for puff, and fabric, colour and size for each appliqué piece.

Questions buyers ask about embroidered hoodies
How is embroidery on a hoodie priced?
By stitch count, usually per thousand stitches, plus a one time digitising charge per design. A dense crest of 15,000 stitches costs about three times a simple 5,000 stitch logo. Ask both factories for the stitch count behind their price.
Can a hood be embroidered?
Yes, on the side panel or along the edge. On a double layer hood, the outer panel is embroidered flat before the lining is sewn in, which hides the backing. Embroidery through a finished double hood shows on the inside.
What is 3D puff embroidery?
Satin stitches laid over a foam layer, which lifts the design off the fleece. It suits bold, simple letters and shapes. Thin lines and small text lose their shape, so check the artwork with the digitiser first. Foam is chosen close to the thread colour, so any gap does not show.
Will embroidery pucker on a hoodie after washing?
It can, if the fleece shrinks and the stitching does not, or if the backing is too light. A cut away backing, pre shrunk fleece and a wash check on the sample keep the design flat. Open designs pucker less than dense fills on the same fleece.
