Hotel bed linen looks like retail linen and is a different product. It is plain white, woven for strength rather than hand, and goes through tunnel washers, chlorine bleach and flatwork ironers again and again. Hotels often use flat sheets for both layers, since fitted sheets do not feed through an ironer. A hotel bed linen manufacturer in Bangladesh is judged on how the cloth keeps its strength, size and whiteness after those cycles. Buyers are hotel groups, laundries and hospitality suppliers.
The desk looks for a unit that weaves or buys sheeting to a hotel construction and has supplied laundry customers before, then visits to see its hemming and its cloth records. Your wash process goes into the enquiry, and the cloth can be tested after repeated hot cycles, not only new, before bulk is cut.
Kinds of hotel bed linen
Polycotton hotel sheeting
Usually 50/50 or 60/40 cotton and polyester at 180 to 250 thread count. Dries faster, creases less and usually lasts more cycles than cotton. Choose it for high turnover rooms where laundry cost counts.
Cotton percale hotel sheeting
Combed cotton plain weave, usually 200 to 300 thread count. Cooler and softer than polycotton, with a shorter wash life. Choose it for rooms that sell on the feel of the bed.
Satin stripe sheeting
White on white stripes, usually 1 to 3 cm wide, woven by alternating sateen and plain bands. Choose it for duvet covers and pillowcases that mark a hotel look; sheets usually stay plain.
Bed runners and cushion covers
Coloured strips across the foot of the bed and decorative covers in the hotel's colours. Washed far less often than sheets. Choose them to add colour without colouring the linen.
Hotel duvet covers and pillowcases
Covers with a deep envelope or open end so housekeeping can change them fast, and housewife cases with a deep flap. Choose them in the sheet cloth so every piece ages at one rate.
What to tell a hotel bed linen manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Laundry process
- Wash temperature, the chlorine bleach used, tunnel or washer extractor, and whether linen is ironed or tumble dried. Cloth and finish are chosen for that process.
- Construction and weight
- Thread count, yarn count and polyester share. Hotel sheeting usually weighs about 115 to 160 GSM; put the weight in the contract.
- Wash life target
- The industrial cycles the linen must last, often planned at about 150 to 300 for polycotton and fewer for cotton, and the strength it must keep at that point.
- Sizes for the beds
- Flat sheets with a generous tuck for tight corners, by bed type. Rooms made up with triple sheeting need a top sheet large enough to wrap the duvet or blanket.
- Size marking
- A coloured hem thread or woven size mark so laundry staff can sort sizes at speed. Give the colour per size.
- Tracking
- Space for a heat seal or sewn laundry tag, or a washable chip if the laundry tracks pieces.
Tests and certificates for hotel bed linen
- ISO 13934-1
- Tensile strength of the woven sheeting, new and again after a set number of hot washes; the share of strength kept is an honest guide to wash life.
- ISO 13937
- Tear strength. Easy care resins that reduce creasing also cut tear strength, so test the finished hotel cloth, and again after washing, before approving a finish.
- ISO 5077 with ISO 6330
- Size change after laundering, run at a high temperature procedure and repeated over several cycles, since hotel linen keeps shrinking at laundry temperatures.
- EU REACH Annex XVII entry 72
- Lists CMR substances in textiles that touch the skin, formaldehyde at 75 mg/kg among them. Ask for a formaldehyde result on resin finished sheeting bound for the EU.
What moves the price of hotel bed linen
- Wash life: cloth built for more cycles needs stronger yarn, a blend or a tighter weave, costing more per metre and less per use.
- Blend: polycotton usually costs less per metre than combed cotton percale at the same count.
- Weave: satin stripe and dobby cloth cost more than plain sheeting and need longer loom set up.
- Whiteness: bleaching and optical whitening to a set level add a finishing step and a measurement.
- Marks: size threads, laundry tags and woven names add trims and handling per piece.
Lead time for hotel bed linen
Hotel linen samples usually take 10 to 14 days from cloth in stock, and bulk usually 45 to 60 days after PP approval. Testing after repeated laundry cycles takes its own laboratory time, so book it before bulk cloth is bought. Satin stripe woven to order adds weaving time, and a hotel name woven into the cloth adds a loom set up. The quote states the dates.
What we check on hotel bed linen before shipment
- White against the standardPieces are compared with the approved white under a light box, including ultraviolet light, which shows uneven brightener.
- Hem stitch densityStitches per centimetre on hems are counted against the specification, since loose hems open early in ironers.
- Size marksColoured hem threads or size marks are checked against each size, because a wrong mark misroutes linen in the laundry.
- Weight per pieceSheets are weighed against the approved weight; a cloth lighter than sampled usually means a shorter wash life.
Questions buyers ask about hotel bed linen
Why can't hotels use retail sheets?
They can, for a while. Retail sheets are finished for softness and colour and washed at home temperatures. Industrial laundering at 70 degrees and above with chlorine weakens them faster, greys coloured pieces and shrinks unstable cloth. Hotel linen is built to keep strength, size and whiteness through that process.
Is polycotton or cotton better for a hotel?
It depends on the room rate and the laundry. Polycotton usually lasts more cycles, dries faster and costs less per metre. Cotton percale feels cooler and softer and suits rooms where the bed is part of the appeal. Some hotels pair cotton pillowcases with polycotton sheets.
How many washes should hotel sheets last?
Hotel buyers often plan for about 150 to 300 industrial cycles for polycotton and fewer for cotton, but laundries differ. Put your own target in the specification with the tensile strength the cloth must keep at that point, and test it before bulk.
Can the hotel's name be woven into the linen?
Yes. A woven name or logo in a satin band or border needs a dobby or jacquard loom set up and a minimum length of cloth. A printed or embroidered mark costs less but wears faster in industrial washing. Ask for the minimum cloth run in the quote.
