A belt strap is the leather part of a belt with no buckle attached, finished at the buckle end with snaps, screw posts or a plain end ready for fitting. Brands with signature buckles, interchangeable buckle systems or an existing hardware supplier buy straps on their own. A leather belt strap manufacturer in Bangladesh then has one job that matters above the rest: a strap that fits hardware it did not make and may never have seen before the fit sample.

Kinds of leather belt strap
Snap-fit strap
Two or three snaps at the buckle end, so the strap folds round the buckle bar and locks. A wearer or a shop swaps buckles in seconds.
Screw-post strap
The buckle end is held by screw posts through the fold. Stronger than snaps and suited to heavy buckles; a small screwdriver changes the buckle.
Track strap for automatic buckles
No holes: the back carries a ratchet track or grooves that an automatic buckle grips. Usually trimmed to length by the wearer at the buckle end.
Clamp strap
A plain strap with a squared buckle end for clamp or plate buckles that grip with teeth or a bar. Supplied long and trimmed to fit.
Unfinished strap blanks
Straps cut, edged and coloured but left unpunched and unfitted, for brands that punch holes and fit their own buckles in a workshop or store near the customer.
What to send a leather belt strap manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Buckle samples
- Several physical buckles of each style, sent before the fit sample. A drawing is not enough, since inside width and bar thickness vary between castings.
- Width to the buckle
- Strap width a little under the buckle's inside width, typically by 0.5 to 1 mm, so it passes the frame without catching.
- Buckle end detail
- Fold length, prong slot size and position, snap or screw spacing, and the keeper position measured from the fold.
- Snaps or screws
- Snap size and finish, or screw post diameter and length, plated to match your buckles so the metal reads as one set.
- Holes, track or plain
- Hole count, spacing and shape; a track for automatic buckles; or a plain end for clamp buckles.
- Leather and thickness
- Animal, finish and thickness, typically 3.0 to 4.0 mm, and the edge finish. Thickness must suit your prong length and clamp gap.
Tests and certificates for leather belt straps
- REACH Annex XVII, entry 47 (chromium VI)
- The strap is the leather that touches skin, and its limit is 3 mg/kg of chromium VI. Your buckles are tested on your side, so the strap's leather report is the one to ask the unit for.
- REACH Annex XVII, entry 27 (nickel release)
- Snaps and screw posts on the strap are metal parts too. Where they rest against skin, nickel release must stay within 0.5 micrograms per square centimetre per week, so ask for nickel-free snaps.
- LWG
- A strap order is all leather, so the tannery is the main sourcing question. If your buyer requires a Leather Working Group rating of gold, silver, bronze or audited, it narrows the strap leather on offer.
What moves the price of a leather belt strap
- No buckle in the price, which can remove a large share of a finished belt's cost.
- Snaps or screw posts, and plating them to match your buckle finish.
- A track backing for automatic buckles, which adds a part and a process.
- Straps punched and fitted with snaps or screws, against unfinished blanks that leave the unit plain.
- Leather grade and edge coats, since a bare strap is judged without a buckle to draw the eye.
Lead time for leather belt straps
Belt straps typically sample in 10 to 18 days and go to bulk in 40 to 65 days after pre-production sign-off. The fit sample cannot start until your buckles reach the unit, and buckles shipped into Bangladesh travel as an import, so allow for transit and paperwork. Snaps plated to match your buckles add days. The quote states which strap dates depend on your buckles.

Questions buyers ask about leather belt straps
Do we need to send our buckles before sampling?
Yes. The fit sample is made around your real buckles, not a drawing. Send several of each style, because inside widths vary between castings, and leave spares with the unit so bulk straps can be checked against them during inspection.
Snaps or screws for interchangeable buckles?
Snaps for fast, frequent changes and light to medium buckles. Screw posts for heavy buckles and for straps changed rarely, since they hold harder but need a tool. Some brands fit screws before sale and sell strap and buckle together, then let the wearer swap later.
Can straps be supplied unpunched so we punch to size?
Yes. Straps can leave the unit edged and coloured with no holes, for punching in your own workshop or store. Give the finished length to allow, and plan to colour the hole walls after punching, because raw punched holes show the leather core.
Can our buckles be fitted to the straps before shipping?
Yes, if the buckles arrive in time and in enough quantity. Fitting adds a step and a check per belt, so the strap price changes. Many brands ship straps and buckles separately instead and fit them at their own warehouse, which keeps sizes and finishes flexible.
