Beanie Hat

Beanie hats, your specification

Made to your tech pack, fabric and colours by a factory matched to the order.

Private label

Your main label, care label, hangtag and polybag. Nominated trims accepted.

A beanie hat is knitted, not cut and sewn. It comes off a flat or circular knitting machine as a tube or a shaped piece, closed at the crown by linking or gathering. So a beanie is made by a knitting unit, the kind that knits sweaters, not on a cap line. A beanie hat manufacturer in Bangladesh sets the gauge, yarn and stitch first, then the cuff and trims. Buyers are fashion and outdoor brands, sports teams and corporate gifting.

If your order has caps and beanies, expect two units. The desk looks for a knitting unit with the gauge your design needs, visits it, and takes in your yarn, stitch and measurements, plus the trims: label, pom pom and lining. The knit sample is measured relaxed and stretched before the PP stage.

Kinds of beanie hat

Cuffed beanies

A long rib tube folded back into a turn up cuff, usually 6 to 8 cm deep, doubling the knit over the ears. Choose it for everyday winter ranges; the cuff carries a label or embroidery.

Fisherman beanies

A short, shallow beanie with a narrow cuff that sits above the ears. Choose it for streetwear; crown height is the measurement that defines it.

Slouch beanies

A longer body that falls back from the crown, usually single layer in a finer gauge. Choose it for fashion ranges, and give the length, since slouch varies between units.

Pom pom beanies

Topped with a yarn or faux fur pom pom, sewn on or fixed with a press stud so it comes off for washing. Choose it for winter and gifting ranges.

Fleece lined beanies

A knitted shell with a polyester fleece band or full lining inside. Choose it for cold climates and outdoor brands; the lining is a cut and sew step after knitting.

Knit details for a beanie hat manufacturer in Bangladesh

Gauge
Needles per inch on the machine: 3 to 7 gauge gives a chunky knit, 10 to 12 gauge a fine one. Gauge sets the look, the weight and which machines can knit it.
Yarn
Acrylic, wool, wool blend, cotton or recycled fibre, with count and ply. Acrylic is light and holds colour; wool is warmer and can felt.
Stitch
1x1 or 2x2 rib, jersey, cable or jacquard, which change stretch, warmth and knitting time.
Layers and cuff
Single or double layer, cuff depth, and the relaxed length and width of the finished beanie.
Crown closing
Linked crown, gathered top or fully fashioned decreases, which change how the top sits.
Trims
Woven, leather or silicone label on the cuff, embroidery position, pom pom type, size and fixing, and any fleece band.

Tests and certificates for beanie hats

ISO 12945-1
Pilling box test on the beanie knit. Acrylic and soft wool pill where they rub against collars and hoods; agree a minimum grade before bulk yarn is bought.
RWS
Animal welfare and land management for wool, mulesing not allowed. Ask for a current certificate for a wool welfare claim; RWS moves to the Materials Matter Standard, with no RWS audits after 31 December 2027.
Regulation (EU) No 1007/2011
EU fibre names and content declaration. A blended beanie lists each fibre by its EU name and its share by weight.

What moves the price of a beanie hat

  • Yarn: wool and wool blends cost more than acrylic, and recycled or certified yarns add to that.
  • Gauge and stitch: fine gauges and cable or jacquard stitches take longer on the machine.
  • Double layer and cuff: a double layer uses close to twice the yarn of a single one.
  • Pom pom: faux fur on a press stud costs more than a yarn pom pom sewn on.
  • Lining and labels: a fleece band is a cut and sew step, and a leather or silicone patch costs more than a woven label.

Lead time for beanie hats

A beanie sample usually takes 10 to 14 days when the yarn is in stock, and bulk usually 35 to 50 days after PP approval. Yarn dyed to a brand colour adds dyeing time before knitting can start, and faux fur pom poms or custom labels come from separate suppliers. Wool from a certified source can add days to yarn buying. Dates are fixed by the quote.

What we check on beanie hats before shipment

  • Relaxed and stretched sizeSampled beanies are measured relaxed for length and width, then stretched and released to check the rib recovers.
  • Knitting faultsBodies are checked for dropped stitches, holes, tight courses and loose yarn ends, especially at the linked crown.
  • Pom pom attachmentPom poms are pulled by hand to check the sewing or press stud holds, and checked for fibre shedding.
  • Cuff and labelThe cuff is checked for even depth all round, with the label sewn straight and centred.

Questions buyers ask about beanie hats

Acrylic or wool for a beanie?

Acrylic is lighter, cheaper, washes easily and holds bright colours, but it can pill. Wool is warmer and handles moisture better, but costs more and can felt in a hot wash. Blends sit between them. Choose on price point and the care label you want to print.

Can caps and beanies come from the same factory?

Usually not. Caps are cut and sewn on cap lines; beanies are knitted on flat or circular machines. Some units do both, but most orders need two sources, each vetted for its own product. One enquiry can cover both, and the reply will say what is possible for each.

What gauge should a beanie be?

Choose on the look. Chunky beanies come from low gauges and smooth, fine ones from high gauges. Lower gauges use more yarn per piece, while finer gauges take longer on the machine. Approve the gauge on a knit sample, not on a photograph.

Can the pom pom be removable?

Yes. A press stud or a loop and button lets it come off for washing, which suits faux fur pom poms that do not wash well. Sewn yarn pom poms cost less and stay fixed. State the fixing and the pom pom size in the specification.
