Fleece blankets, your specification

Private label

A fleece blanket is a cut and edged sheet of brushed polyester knit, light for its warmth and quick to dry. Home brands, supermarkets, charities and promotional buyers order it as throws, bed blankets, baby blankets and branded gifts, and the cloth comes from the same composite knit mills that supply fleece garments. A fleece blanket manufacturer in Bangladesh adds edging, printing, embroidery and packing, and on so light a product the packing decides much of the landed cost.

Garments Hub BD asks both quoting factories to name the fleece type, finished weight and edge, and to give the packed carton size and pieces per carton, so the comparison covers freight volume as well as the price per blanket. Sampled blankets are weighed and measured at final inspection, and the photographs are yours.

Kinds of fleece blanket

Polar fleece blanket

Brushed and sheared on both sides with an anti pill finish, usually 200 to 300 GSM. Light, warm and hard wearing, and the standard for promotional throws, travel blankets and value bedding.

Coral fleece blanket

A longer, denser pile of fine polyester that feels soft and plush, usually 250 to 350 GSM. It sells on touch in home and gift ranges, and it sheds more lint when new than polar fleece.

Printed fleece throw

Polar or flannel fleece printed by heat transfer or rotary screen, as an all over pattern or a placed design. Print sharpness depends on a short, even pile, and dark grounds need a rubbing test.

Baby fleece blanket

A smaller blanket, usually around 75 by 100 centimetres, in soft fleece with bound edges and no loose parts. Ask for testing to the strictest harmful substance class, the one for baby articles.

Promotional embroidered throw

A polar fleece throw with an embroidered logo in one corner, often rolled with a ribbon or printed band. Bought by companies, clubs and events, where logo size and packing matter more than the fleece.

How to specify a fleece blanket

Fleece type and weight
Polar, coral or flannel fleece, anti pill or not, and the finished GSM, usually 200 to 350. Give it after brushing, since finishing changes the weight.
Finished size
Width and length after edging for each size, from baby and throw to single, double, queen and king. A throw usually measures around 125 by 150 centimetres; bed sizes follow the market.
Edge finish
Whipstitch in a matching or contrast yarn, a self bound folded edge, or an overlocked edge. Give the stitch density for whipstitch, since loose stitches catch and pull.
Print or embroidery
Print method, repeat and colours, or logo size, stitch count and corner position. Embroidery sinks into coral fleece unless stitch count and underlay are set for the pile.
Fold, roll and pack
Folded flat or rolled and tied, with a band, ribbon or bag, plus the carton size and count. Rolling or compressing changes how many blankets fit each carton.

Tests for a fleece blanket manufacturer in Bangladesh

ISO 12945-1
Pilling by the pilling box. A blanket rubs on itself and on bedding rather than on a wearer, so agree a box test and a grade on the bulk fleece.
EN 12127
Mass per unit area from small samples. Cut swatches from finished blankets to confirm the GSM, since a lighter fleece looks the same in a photograph.
ISO 105-X12
Rubbing fastness on printed and dark fleece. A navy or printed throw can mark a light sofa or pale bed linen, so ask for dry and wet grades.
OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100
Harmful substance testing, with product class I for baby blankets. Ask for a certificate covering the fleece, the edge yarn and any print.

What moves the price of a fleece blanket

  • Fleece type and weight: coral and heavier polar fleece use more polyester per blanket.
  • Size: a king blanket uses several times the fleece of a throw.
  • Edge finish: whipstitching is slower than an overlocked or self bound edge.
  • Printing or embroidery, priced by colours, coverage or stitch count.
  • Packing: ribbons, printed bands, bags and inserts, and the cartons they need.

Lead time for fleece blankets

Fleece blanket samples usually take 7 to 14 days in a stock fleece, and bulk usually runs 30 to 60 days after written PP approval. A colour dyed for the order, an all over print or a fresh harmful substance test adds days before cutting, and embroidered throws wait on artwork approval. The quote confirms the dates.

What we check on fleece blankets before shipment

  • Edge stitchingWhipstitch density and tension checked along every edge and at each corner, where a loose stitch starts to unravel.
  • Finished sizeSampled blankets measured flat after edging, since fleece stretches as it is sewn and can come out longer than cut.
  • Print and pilePrints checked for sharpness and coverage, with the pile lying one way so the shade looks even across the blanket.
  • Carton cubePacked cartons measured and counted against the planned size and pieces per carton, since freight is booked on that volume.

Questions buyers ask about fleece blankets

Polar or coral fleece for a blanket?

Polar fleece for value, durability and printing: it is firm, sheds little and wears well. Coral fleece for softness that sells on touch in home and gift ranges, at a higher weight and price. Coral sheds more lint when new, so shake and wash the sample before approving it.

Whipstitch or bound edge?

Whipstitch is the classic blanket edge, in a matching or contrast yarn, and gives a homely look at a higher sewing cost. A self bound folded edge is cleaner and quicker, and an overlocked edge the cheapest. Choose by price point, and check that the edge lies flat after a wash.

How are fleece blankets packed for shipping?

Folded flat in a bag, or rolled and tied with a ribbon or band. Fleece is light and bulky, so sea freight on it is usually charged by volume rather than weight, and carton size sets the freight per blanket. Compression packing fits more per carton, but check the pile recovers after unpacking.

What sizes should a fleece blanket range carry?

A throw of around 125 by 150 centimetres often sells most, with a baby blanket around 75 by 100 and bed sizes matched to the market's mattresses. Each size is its own marker and carton, so start with the sizes that sell and add bed sizes once the throw has a record.
