Kids bed linen covers fitted cot sheets, toddler duvet sets and single bed sets, mostly printed and lighter than adult linen. The print is the product, so the cloth is chosen to take it cleanly and keep it through frequent washing. A kids bed linen manufacturer in Bangladesh is usually asked for the baby article class of certification on cot linen, and must meet the market's rules for children's products. Buyers are children's brands, nursery retailers and licence holders.
The desk looks for a unit with rotary or digital printing, or a printer it works with, and certificates that cover your age band. It visits to see the print and finishing lines, takes your artwork and size chart in, and has strike offs approved before lab dips close. For licensed art, the licence holder's sign off is built into sampling.
Kinds of kids bed linen
Cot and crib fitted sheets
For cot mattresses of usually 60 by 120 cm or 70 by 140 cm in the UK and EU, and about 28 by 52 inches in the US. Choose plain or small prints, often in packs of two; the fit must be snug.
Toddler duvet sets
A cover and one pillowcase for a junior duvet, usually 120 by 150 cm, for children leaving the cot. Choose bold prints scaled to the smaller panel.
Single printed duvet sets
A single cover and case with an all over or placement print, the core of many kids' ranges. Choose reversible prints to give two looks in one set.
Licensed character sets
Sets printed with characters under licence. The licence holder supplies the art, approves strike offs and samples, and often requires its own factory audit. Choose them only with the licence in hand.
Organic cotton baby ranges
Undyed or lightly printed organic cotton for newborn and cot use, sold on a GOTS claim. Choose it where parents pay for organic; certification must reach the printing unit.
What to send a kids bed linen manufacturer in Bangladesh
- Age band and market
- Baby, toddler or child, and the markets. Cot linen sold for babies is usually certified to a tighter class and, in the US, falls under the rules for children's products.
- Sizes
- Cot, cot bed, toddler and single sizes by market; a UK single duvet is 135 by 200 cm. Give finished sizes after washing.
- Print method
- Reactive or pigment, rotary screen or digital. Reactive prints feel softer and usually wash better; pigment prints cost less and need a rubbing test.
- Artwork and repeat
- Layered artwork with colour references, repeat scaled to cot and single panels, and placement for any feature character.
- Closures and trims
- Envelope or zip closures rather than buttons on cot and toddler covers, and no loose ties or appliqués that a small child can pull off.
- Tracking label
- For US children's products, a permanent tracking label with the maker, place and date of making, sewn into each piece.
Tests and certificates for kids bed linen
- OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100
- Cot linen for babies needs class I, the baby article class, with tighter limits than the other three; single sets for older children usually sit in class II.
- EU REACH Annex XVII entry 43
- Restricts azo dyes that release listed amines above 30 mg/kg in textiles in long skin contact, bedding included. Ask for an azo result on each print colourway sold in the EU.
- US CPSIA
- Third party testing at a CPSC accepted laboratory, a Children's Product Certificate and a tracking label. Dyed cloth is determined not to exceed the lead limit, so testing falls on prints, zips and studs: 100 ppm in accessible parts, 90 ppm in coatings.
- ISO 105-X12
- Dry and wet rubbing on cot and single set prints, where pigment is the usual failure; agree a minimum wet grade on the dark print colours.
What moves the price of kids bed linen
- Print colours: each colour in a rotary print needs a screen, so a ten colour design costs more to set up than a four colour one.
- Print method: digital suits short runs of many designs; rotary screen gets cheaper per metre as runs grow.
- Licence: approvals, licence labels and audit requirements add time and cost per piece.
- Testing: third party children's product tests per print and per component weigh heavily on small runs.
- Size mix: cot pieces are small, so cutting and packing are a larger share of their price than on a single.
Lead time for kids bed linen
Samples usually take 10 to 14 days once strike offs are signed, and bulk usually 45 to 60 days after the PP sample. A licensed design adds the licence holder's approval rounds, often more than one. Third party testing for children's products adds laboratory days before shipping, and a new rotary print needs screens engraved. Each of these is dated in the quote, not assumed.
What we check on kids bed linen before shipment
- Print registrationEach colour is checked for alignment with its neighbours, with no halo or gap round outlines, against the approved strike off.
- Rub on dark coloursA white cloth is rubbed over dark print areas on sampled pieces to catch pigment that would mark skin or sheets.
- Small parts and closuresZips, studs and any appliqué are pulled to check they hold, with no loose threads or trims left at seams.
- Labels for the marketTracking, licence, age and care labels are checked on each sampled piece against the approved list.
Questions buyers ask about kids bed linen
Which OEKO-TEX class do cot sheets need?
Class I, the class for baby articles, which covers babies and small children up to 36 months. Sets for older children are usually certified in class II. Check that the certificate names the article type and is still current when the goods ship, not only at sampling.
Is kids bed linen a children's product under US law?
Usually, when it is designed and marketed for children aged 12 and under, with children's prints, sizes or themes. That brings third party testing at a CPSC accepted laboratory, a Children's Product Certificate and a tracking label. Plain adult sizes sold to anyone usually do not count.
Can licensed characters be printed on a first order?
Only with the licence. The licence holder supplies artwork, approves strike offs and samples, and often audits the factory first. Send the licence agreement and approval steps with the enquiry, because the unit must be acceptable to the licence holder before any print is made.
Reactive or pigment printing for kids bedding?
Reactive printing dyes the fibre, feels softer and usually keeps its colour longer in washing. Pigment printing sits on the surface, costs less, and can stiffen the hand and rub off on dark colours. For cot linen washed often, reactive is the common choice.
